Lincoln📍

Four days, five messages, zero filler. We took the Get Out of Your Head series from the page to the pavement, and the shift was undeniable. We stopped playing games with our mindset and started fighting for the freedom we were actually created for.

The core of what we broke down:

We stopped acting like internal noise is harmless and learned to kill toxic patterns before they rewrite our identity.

We traded the “Why me?” spiral for the “What now?” mission.

You don’t need a silent mind to be free; you just need a Voice in your head louder than your doubt.

Mental warfare isn’t a solo sport, vulnerability with the homies is the fastest way to kill shame.

Beyond the sessions, the trip was a highlight reel of grace. From coffeeshops to refuel to getting the full Lincoln tour from my best friend, it was good to be on the ground. It was awesome to link up with the professor who originally opened the door for my church planting journey; seeing God connect those dots in real-time hits different.

Shoutout to the youth ministry team! Watching you guys lock in and collaborate was a masterclass in heart-led leadership.

I’m back in Spokane with a full tank (that first-class upgrade definitely helped handle the travel delays). Homies, we’re just getting started. ✌️

When we talk about having "Hard Conversations" with God, we often treat prayer like a one-size-fits-all formula. But this week, we looked at the life of Abraham and Sarah across three distinct chapters (Genesis 18, 21 & 22), and we discovered that spiritual maturity actually requires two completely different postures: bold, vocal wrestling and heavy, silent surrender.

When the divine messengers tell Abraham that Sarah will have a son in her old age, Sarah laughs silently. It wasn't a laugh of joy; it was protective pessimism. When you’ve been disappointed for decades, cynical doubt becomes a shield to protect your heart from breaking again.

But God exposes her hidden laugh, handles her fear with truth, and keeps His promise. In Genesis 21, Isaac is born. His name literally translates to "He laughs."
For the rest of their lives, every single time they called their son to the dinner table, "Isaac!" They were saying the words "He laughs." God turns our secret skepticism into our loudest songs of praise.

Later in chapter 18, when God reveals the impending judgment of S***m, Abraham steps up like a forensic defense attorney. He boldly cross-examines God based on God's own character resume. He systematically bargains God down from 50 righteous people to 10.

God isn't fragile. Intercessory prayer isn't about changing God's mind; it's about aligning our hearts with His mercy. We can argue with God when we know He is just.

Contrast the vocal, bargaining Abraham of chapter 18 with the Abraham of chapter 22. When God demands that he sacrifice his son Isaac, Abraham says absolutely nothing back to God. No arguments. No legal defense. Just a heavy, three-day silent walk up the mountain.

Faith doesn't always understand the immediate instructions, but it reasons based on the unchanging track record of the One who gave them. We can be silent before God when we know He is good.

Are you currently in a Genesis 18 season, where God is inviting you to boldly speak up, step in, and intercede for a difficult situation? Or are you in a Genesis 22 season, where God is calling you to quietly surrender something precious back to Him, trusting His resurrection power?

If you think your past failures disqualify you from God's future plans, you need to look at the math of Peter’s life. 🧮

We just wrapped up Week 3 of our Real Talk series, tracing Peter through John 13, John 21, and Acts 10. And the pattern we found is a masterclass in how God handles our pretentiousness.

Peter is the king of saying, "No, Lord."
He said it in the Upper Room when Jesus tried to wash his feet.
He said it on a rooftop in Joppa when God told him to eat food his culture labeled "unclean."

Every time Peter tried to be more righteous than God, he was operating out of pride. First personal pride, then cultural pride.

But look at how Jesus uses the Power of 3 to break him down and build him back up:

❌ 3 denials in the courtyard established his complete brokenness.
❤️ 3 questions by the charcoal fire established his complete restoration.
🕊️ 3 visions smashed his cultural prejudice so he could take the Gospel to the world.

God doesn't restore your brokenness just to make you comfortable. He restores you so you can become a conduit of his relentless, border-breaking grace to others.

Stop standing in the way of your own healing and stop gatekeeping it from anyone else.

Don’t miss out on where this journey is taking us next. Join us this Sunday as we keep having the conversations most environments are afraid to touch.

Unplugged: Disconnect to Reconnect

This summer, we are making space to quiet the noise and find rest in the presence of the Creator. Unplugged is a new seasonal ministry at Home of Shalom designed to help us unplug from distractions and plug into the Ultimate Power Source.

Every other Saturday, we'll gather in the natural beauty of Minnehaha Park to simplify our focus. We start with acoustic worship, a devotion from the Word, and intentional prayer. The rest of the afternoon is yours to embrace peace—whether that means hiking the trails, resting in a hammock, or simply walking barefoot through the grass.

When: Every other Saturday at 2:00 PM (Starting June 6th)
Where: Minnehaha Park

Leave your phone in the car. Disconnect from the distractions and connect with the Main Attraction. DM us for more details.
