The MFA at EWU Our MFA program, established in 1978, is a two-year, full residency, studio-based program featuring intensive study of fiction and poetry.

Our own Sarah Rooney was recognized with the Community Service Award at EWU's Student Leadership Awards last night. Her tireless work with WITC and Poetry After Dark, running Foray and her many other efforts in service to Spokane were mentioned. WITC Student Director Bruce Asper was also nominated for Student Leader of the Year. The EWU MFA is different.

Join us Friday evening at Spark Central for a reading by Kirsten Sundberg Lunstrum, the author of Elita. The debut novel was released in January and Kirkus Reviews said the novel is "immensely satisfying as both a mystery and an unblinkered look at working motherhood." Her short fiction book, What We Do with the Wreckage, win the 2017 Flannery O'Connor Award for Short Fiction. Come on out!

We are excited to have Carolyn Kuebler join us by Zoom on Friday, March 7th at 7 pm as our next Visiting Writer! Her debut novel, Liquid, Fragile, Perishable was published in May, 2024 by Melville House. Her story, Wildflower Season (Massachusetts Review) won the John Burroughs Award for Nature Essay. Danusha Lameris will be be joining us as a Visiting Writer by Zoom on Friday evening at 7 pm. Lameris' third book of poems, Blade by Blade, was published by Copper Canyon Press in 2024.
