We play MUSIC, new and old, classic and not, mixed genres, and LOTS of it, with mindfulness, compassion, and the best of taste: with a SPOT at the Top of Hour Two Highlighting New Music and/or Interviewing Musicians. I am told that at least half a dozen other willing/crazed/able music spinners have hosted this program in the past. One thing I do know is this: For nearly 21 years of that time, my d
edicated partner, Norvel Trosst, hosted and produced this show. When Norvel died on March 16, 2013, the seeds of his spirit were sown, and it was a revelation to me: Why don't I pick up Soundspace? I have Norvel's music collection, and my own. Made sense to me. I gently pitched the idea to Verne Windham, Program Director at KPBX, and said, "If it works out, fine. If not, fine, too." So, as the months spun on and around, we've finally landed HERE. We are on earth. What do we do about it? All of this space, so many ways to turn our senses onto new soundscapes that parallel yet challenge generations, continents, belief systems. SoundSpace with Zan pushes the parameters of our space here on earth with a weekly eclectic dreamscape of old and new releases from all over the world, some spoken word, occasionally, local sounds, and a variety of musical and creative process insights via Zan's SPOT Interviews posted as podcasts at SpokanePublicRadio.org on the Soundspace sub-page. If you have landed on this page, you are in the RIGHT place, for this is where we celebrate the PURE joy of GREAT music. At Spokane Public Radio (KPBX.org 91.1FM), each Sunday from 9-11pm, Soundspace with Zan Agzigian will take you on a journey of eclectic music, both local and well-known, old and new, spoken word, soundtrack, as well as (from time to time) perspectives from musicians on the process of making music to help transcend you into your evening via SPOT interviews. All of this may even inspire you to go out and buy music from your local music shop, or go online and buy what you just heard, to liven up your life's listening pleasure and mixtapes. Oh, and to expand your horizons, and enrich your soul. Looking for the show's Playlists? If you go to the Soundspace sub-page @ SpokanePublicRadio.org, you will find the most recent and former playlists that have aired. Through the week, Zan posts a musical fact or shares brand new music videos just released!
