☕ One of Spokane's favorite local coffee spots is celebrating a new chapter.

Ladder Coffee is hosting a re-grand opening event at its Browne's Addition location.

📍1516 W Riverside Ave
🗓️ May 29
⏰ 3 PM–6 PM

What to expect:

☕ New chef-designed food program by Chef Peter from Gander and Ryegrass
🎶 Live music
✨ Demonstrations and experiences throughout the event
🎟️ Community-focused celebration

Over the last year, Browne's Addition has slowly been gaining momentum again.

More people.
More activity.
More local investment.

And Ladder Coffee feels like one of those businesses helping lead that energy.

🥯 A popular Spokane bagel spot is expanding to North Spokane.

The Bagel Authority is opening a second location at:

📍 9335 N Newport Hwy
📍 Former Starbucks space near Rosauers

The original downtown location will remain open.

Here’s what makes this expansion interesting:

Same steamed bagel + sandwich menu
Drive-thru service added at the new location
Coffee, lattes, Lotus drinks, and online ordering
Local brand continuing to scale in Spokane

This is another example of a locally owned concept proving demand in one area, then successfully expanding into a major North Spokane corridor.

And adding a drive-thru changes the game for convenience and daily traffic.

🍸 Spokane Cocktail Week is officially returning May 31 – June 7.

And this year is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.

Here’s what’s happening:

50+ participating bars & restaurants
150+ craft cocktails + mocktails
Pop-ups, patio parties, karaoke nights & tastings
Educational events + industry collaborations

New “Honorary Bartender Pass” experience

This event has quietly become one of the best examples of how much Spokane’s food and drink scene has grown over the last few years.

For one week, the city basically turns into a massive cocktail trail.

And beyond the drinks, proceeds also support Counter Culture, a nonprofit focused on mentorship, education, and wellness within the hospitality industry.

📊 I analyzed six months of Spokane housing market data.

Every home that sold.
Every home that failed.
Everything currently sitting on the market.

And the data revealed one of the clearest market pictures I’ve seen in a while.

Here’s the big takeaway:

Spokane is no longer moving like one market.

Some homes are moving fast with multiple offers.

Others are sitting with almost no traction.

And the difference between those outcomes is becoming very clear.

This market is becoming much more nuanced than the headlines make it seem.

🏗️ Charlie's Produce has officially broken ground on a new 66,000 SF distribution facility on Spokane's West Plains.

The company already serves customers across Washington, Idaho, Oregon, and Montana out of Spokane — this expansion is about adding serious capacity to an operation that's already regional in scale.

📍 6500 block of W 40th Ave, West Plains 📐 66,000 SF total — 56,000 SF warehouse, 10,000 SF office 🌡️ Multiple temperature-controlled zones 🚛 17 loading docks 👷 Up to 180 employees across shifts 📅 Projected completion: April 2027

The West Plains keeps landing projects like this because the location works — airport access, freeway corridors, and the ability to move product across four states efficiently. When you start stacking major employers out there, it changes the long-term trajectory of that whole corridor, including the housing that tends to follow.

Do you think the West Plains becomes Spokane's dominant industrial hub over the next decade?

🌆 Kendall Yards Night Market Is Almost Back!

The Kendall Yards Night Market returns May 20th and runs every Wednesday through September 16th — local vendors, food trucks, live music, and a stretch of Summit Parkway that becomes one of the liveliest spots in the city for about four months straight.

📍 Summit Parkway, Kendall Yards 🗓️ May 20 – September 16 ⏰ Wednesdays, 5–8:30 PM

It draws people from all over Spokane, not just the neighborhood, and it has for years. That kind of consistent turnout doesn't happen by accident — it's genuinely one of the better free things this city does all summer.

If you're a regular, what's your go-to vendor or food truck? And if you've never been, this thread is a good place to figure out where to start.

🥗 Something new just opened on North Hamilton and it's worth knowing about whether you're near Gonzaga every day or just passing through.

Konala is a fast-casual, health-focused concept built around bowls, high-protein options, and bold flavors with a drive-thru so it actually fits a real schedule. The brand was founded by a husband and wife team and named after their rescue dogs, Kona and Nala, and the whole thing feels like it was built with intention rather than assembled by a committee.

What makes the location smart: North Hamilton is one of the busiest daily corridors in the city students, commuters, and staff all move through that stretch constantly there aren't many options in that area that hit both convenience and quality at the same time

If you've been, what did you order? Curious what's worth going back for.

🏆 Forbes just ranked Spokane one of the 25 best places to retire in the country — out of nearly 1,000 cities evaluated.

Out of close to 1,000 U.S. locations, Spokane made Forbes' 2026 list for high quality of life at a price that still makes sense. Here's the breakdown.

📍 What we know so far:

-Median home price: $395,000 — vs. the Washington state average of $601,000
-Utility rates run roughly 27% below the national average (~$217/month for electricity)
-Forbes rated Spokane as very bikeable and pretty walkable
-College-town makeup — Gonzaga, Whitworth, Spokane Falls CC — flagged as a strength for mixed-age community health

Forbes was upfront: cold winters and a crime rate above the national average are both on the record

When a publication that screened 1,000 cities puts Spokane in the top 25, it's a signal the rest of the country is starting to pay attention to what people here already know.
