AREA JULY 4 SCHEDULES
SIREN: Thursday, July 3, there is a street dance in Siren with music by The Dweebs, from 8-12 p.m. Friday, July 4, the 45th Annual Freedom 5 Road Race begins at 8 a.m., followed by Bed Races on Main Street at 9:45 a.m. A Kids Mini Parade follows the Bed Races. The Grand Parade takes place on Main Street at 11:30 a.m. At 2 p.m. there is a Boat Parade at Crooked Lake. A Community Band Concert will play at the Crooked Lake Bandshell at 8 p.m., followed by Siren Lions Fireworks at dusk over Crooked Lake.
SHELL LAKE: Sponsored by the Shell Lake Chamber of Commerce. On Thursday, July 3, starting at 8 p.m. on Main Street, there will be a street dance featuring Sushi Roll with a high-energy, family-friendly performance. The dusk fireworks show will launch from three pontoons on the water, directly down from Main Street. The best viewing area is in direct line of sight of the barges, just past the swim platform. Viewers may sit anywhere along the beach and hillside in front of the pavilion to enjoy the display. Following fireworks, Sushi Roll performs on until 12 a.m.
SPOONER: Spooner will have their annual Fireworks Show on Friday, July 4, behind Spooner High School. Fireworks will be shot off by the Spooner Fire District at dusk. Great spots for viewing the fireworks are in front of the Spooner High School, near the High School Football Field, or at the softball/baseball fields.between the Spooner High School & Elementary School. Enjoy a tasty root beer float at the show. This event is free to attend, and always a great, patriotic show.
LONG LAKE: The Long Lake Chamber of Commerce will have its annual fireworks show on Friday, July 4, at dusk off Kunz Island on Long Lake. People can get a good view of the fireworks from boats or one of the restaurants overlooking the lake. Rummel’s Tap will have fireworks from 6 p.m. to midnight. Bring a chair. There will be food and specials, with DJ Kevin performing.
BIG McKENZIE: Independence Day will be celebrated on Saturday, July 5 at Big McKenzie. The McKenzie Lake Association will have their annual Boat Parade at 1 p.m. Decorate your pontoon or speedboat and join in. There will be live music and a bean bag tournament at McKenzie Landing, with fireworks at dusk.
BIRCHWOOD: The Birchwood Area Chamber of Commerce will have its annual fireworks at dusk on Thursday, July 3, at the Birch Lakes RV Park. People are encouraged to view the show from the resort by boat.
SPRINGBROOK: On Saturday, July 5, the VFW in Springbrook will have fireworks at dusk.
STONE LAKE: On Friday, July 4, the Stone Lake Lions Club will present fireworks at dusk at the Stone Lake Lions Park.
LIPSETT LAKE: The Lipsett Lake Association’s annual Boat Parade is on Saturday, July 5, starting at 1 p.m. at the outlet. The parade will be traveling clockwise this year. Prizes will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place for “Most Original” and “Most Patriotic.” You must be a member of the association, have your boat number displayed, and start and finish the parade to win. Remember to drive close to the Loftus dock for photos and to circle back on the parade once it is done so we can all look at each others boats. There will be a tie up party approx. one half hour after the conclusion of the parade in the middle of the lake. Look for the flotilla of boats.
