I haven’t posted in a while because 3 weeks ago, I lost my mom and I have been struggling. I was thankful to be with her for her final days to her last breath. I am thankful she is no longer in pain and that she is with Him. It doesn’t feel real that she is gone. I miss her and knowing I won’t get a birthday card from her this week, that I can’t send her my hummingbird photos, that I can’t tell her about the accomplishments her granddaughters have made, that I can’t call just to gossip and chat is really hard for me.
Mom was always up for an adventure, made custom stockings for everyone in the family, was an artist, a great cook/baker, and just the best mom anyone could ask for.
My heart hurts because of circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to fulfill her last wishes. I love you mom and will miss you every day.
Please check the comments for a video I made for my mom.

Bertha Marie Clark was born 134 years ago today on January 12, 1892 in Lockhart, Texas. Her parents were James Edward Clark Jr and Rose Etta Smith and she was the 2nd of 7 children. She married Thomas Murrah Williamson in October 1912 in Caldwell, Texas. They had 2 sons, Bruce Cliett and Clifford Ray. Thomas died in Washington DC in 1921 under mysterious circumstances. Family lore was that he was a member of the secret service and that he died in the line of duty. The only record I have been able to find is a newspaper clipping stating that he committed su***de by gas. Bertha married William Robert Long Jr in 1925 but he died in 1939. She married Ernest Bedford Higdon Sr in 1942. She lost her son Clifford Ray in 1964 and she passed in October 1966 in San Antonio, Texas. She was my great grandmother.

I recently digitized some family recipe books. I love seeing the recipes that are handwritten and typed, adds such a personal touch. None of the recipes are mine as I am personally a terrible cook and will take full responsibility for my daughter becoming a chef because she didn’t want to eat my cooking anymore. These are from the Wilcox side of the family.
