The tornado-warned storm now approaching Savannah is headed in the general direction of Columbia, Spring Hill, and Franklin. It is starting to "bow" eastward a bit, which generally indicates higher winds.

SNOW ROUTES: Here's a look at the City of Spring Hill snow routes. The highlighted City roads will be the focus of Public Works crews as the winter storm moves into the area this weekend.

Please note that City snow plows will not be clearing subdivisions, just the highlighted roads.

It is still early, but confidence is growing for a several-inch event. This includes Davidson, Williamson, Maury, and Rutherford counties. This storm has not yet materialized so we are still relying on model data. Some models still turn a lot of this to ice instead of snow, which would obviously reduce accumulation amounts. Once the storm materializes and the models start getting actual data input, the predictions get more accurate.

NWS seems pretty confident (as much as they could be this early) that Williamson Co could get 3"+ of snow this coming weekend. Maury County remains iffy. It's all about the track and we won't know for sure until it begins.

*****OUTDATED: SEE NEW POSTS******

NWS Nashville just put this out a couple of hours ago, and our chances have gone up from the mid 20%’s earlier.

I’m gonna do a follow up post as soon as some of the models are done running.

I haven’t watched all of today’s runs yet. From what I’ve been seeing in the previous days runs, I’d say the increased confidence is warranted.

I’ll have more for you later. Stay tuned ~ Cap’n

It is too early to say anything definitive about Saturday's potential winter event. The models are mostly starting to agree that we will see "something", but what and how much is not yet clear. Here are three different models depicting the same 6 hours ending Saturday night at midnight. One shows multiple inches of snow, one shows ice, and one shows nothing. It depends on several factors that are hard to foresee 5-6 days out, like how deep/shallow the cold air is (which will determine snow vs ice), and the exact track of the low pressure system (a variation of 20 miles one way or another can cause several inches of variation in accumulation amounts). By Wednesday or Thursday we should have a better idea of what we are looking at.
