Thirty years ago in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, after dating for several months, Chris and I were at a church singles retreat.

On the last night, after an amazing concert, he asked me to take a walk on the beach with him.

On that walk, he told me he loved me, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me… and then he asked, “Will you marry me?”

Me: YES!!! 💍

When we walked back—on top of the world—all of our friends were waiting for us with big hugs, screams, and congratulations.🎉 🎉

This is the picture from that night.

We’ve built a life together since then, and we’re still dancing in the sunset. 💕
