Tomorrow:

ALL,

Please see message below from Gabriella (Gabby) Kubinyi our Associate Director of Grassroots Advocacy in the D.C. Office.

Dear VFW Advocates,

This Wednesday, the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs will hold a hearing titled:

“Putting Veterans First: Is the Current VA Disability System Keeping Its Promise?” to discuss the realities of VA benefits and debunk negative claims made by the Washington Post.

📅 When: Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
📍 Where: Room G-50, Dirksen Senate Office Building
🎥 Watch Live: veterans.senate.gov/2025/10/putting-veterans-first-is-the-current-va-disability-system-keeping-its-promise

Representing the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Ryan Gallucci, Executive Director of the VFW Washington Office, will testify on behalf of our members and all veterans who depend on a fair and effective VA disability system.

This is an important opportunity for Congress to hear directly from VFW about how the nation must Honor the Contract and ensure veterans receive the benefits they have earned. These benefits are NOT charity. The VFW will provide specific feedback on how the claims and appeals process can be improved, while dispelling misinformation that veterans have “too many benefits”.

Here’s how you can help:

Attend in person if you’re in the area, filling those seats shows visible support for Ryan and the veterans he represents.
Share this information with your Departments, Posts, and Auxiliary members so they can attend or watch online.
Can’t be there in person? Watch the hearing live at the link above and share it on social media to help amplify veterans’ voices.

Thank you for always showing what “No One Does More for Veterans” truly means.

In a final act of honor, Navy divers, wearing WWII-era diving gear, gently carried the ashes of USS Arizona survivor Lauren F. Bruner to rest aboard his fallen ship. Decades after surviving the attack on Pearl Harbor, Bruner returned to the Arizona, taking his eternal place alongside the 1,177 sailors who never left the ship. With each careful movement beneath the waves, the divers bridged past and present, laying to rest a hero where his heart had always remained. By choosing to be laid to rest in the Arizona's sunken hull, Bruner became the 44th and is the "LAST SURVIVOR" to rejoin his brothers in the wreck of the Arizona. 🕊️🇺🇸⚓
