Maine C**n 101: What Makes a Maine C**n… a Maine C**n?
If you’re thinking about getting a Maine C**n, here are the key traits that make this breed truly unique and different from “just a big fluffy cat.”
🐾 Large, rectangular build
Long frame, sturdy bones, slow growth until 3–4 years old.
🐾 Big, tufted ears
Tall, wide base with lynx tips and lots of ear hair—one of their most defining features.
🐾 Square muzzle
Not pointy, not flat — a balanced, boxy muzzle is a true Maine C**n trait.
🐾 Shaggy, uneven coat
Longer around the neck (mane) and tail, shorter on shoulders. Not cottony.
🐾 Long, flowing tail
Thick, bushy, and almost the length of their body.
🐾 Sweet, social temperament
They’re gentle, people-oriented, and love following you everywhere.
✨ At HausWhiskerfell, we focus on European-line Maine C**ns, known for stronger type — larger frames, heavier muzzles, and more pronounced features — while prioritizing health and ethical breeding.
And to show you what this looks like in real life…
Here’s Dalena, our TICA Grand Champion. Her structure, head type, and overall balance represent the exact lines and quality we aim to preserve in our breeding program.
