The Heavylution Podcast πŸŽΆπŸ’€ Dive into the legends of heavy metal on our podcast journey! πŸŽ™οΈ

It's been awhile since I've been active here, but today's news feels like a post is warranted.

Ozzy Osbourne passed today at age 76.

Ozzy was foundational to the creation of heavy metal music as we know it today with the formation of Black Sabbath, the Ozzy Osbourne band, and his solo career. He forever changed musicians and listeners alike with his droney vocals and lyricism that was far darker than that of the artists of the 60s and 70s. Writing about topics most artists were staying away from garnered the attention of underground rock communities across the globe and Black Sabbath soon took their rise to stardom in the US. The self titled Black Sabbath album is still the best album I listened to in my entire process of discovering the history of heavy metal. He lived a life full of controversy, excess, and fame that everyone was surprised death didn't take him sooner. Black Sabbath recently reunited for one final performance in Birmingham, England where it all began and it's as if he had hung on for that final moment to be able to let go.

Rest In Peace Ozzy

It has taken me awhile to figure this out and decide my next move.

Over the last few months, my ability to create consistent, quality podcast episodes has gone down quite a lot. There are a few contributing factors to this, most of which are factors I had not anticipated when I first started this journey.

As of now, I'm going to be taking a break and putting The Heavylution Podcast on hiatus while I figure out what comes next. I think there's a lot to be explored and I feel there is still a lot of value in what I'm trying to do, so I intend to be back. I don't know what that will look like when it happens, but this isn't the end.

Thank you for all the past and continued support (the series is about to crack 600 total plays 😱).

Been a minute since I've posted, but I'm here! I even have a new episode out.

Bathory are one of the foundation bands to come from the first wave of black metal in the early 80s. Pushing the boundaries of extreme metal even further than bands like Venom and Mercyful Fate are what set them apart from the rest of their fellow black metal founders.

Check it out and let me know what you think

Full disclosure: I forgot to hit record on my microphone as I started the episode so the audio is pulled from my phone mic from the video I recorded 🀣 sounds awesome. Just trust me

Listen to this episode from The Heavylution Podcast on Spotify. Named for the famed serial killer of the late 1500's, Bathory stand out as a foundation for extreme metal to follow. With snarling screams, fast-paced drum beats, and bass grooves that compete with Black Sabbath, they put out their self...

Saosin is on tour now celebrating their self-titled album. They recently shared this video of them covering one of my old school faves Pitiful by Blindside (Sweden) . Blindside are one of the bands that got me into screamo/heavier styles of music. Enjoy this wonderful cover of such an incredible song.

While not specifically heavy metal, I had the opportunity to check out a guitar exhibit and a Nirvana exhibit while in Seattle a few weeks ago. Here's a few pics I got of some of the great displays 🀘🀘
