Our goal is to introduce modern readers to the diverse forms of literary art that existed during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, many of which have been forgotten or overlooked by later generations. Our titles include science fiction, fantasy, adventure, children's, games/pastimes, how-to and humor. Each title is reprinted in a format and type designed for easy reading. We hope these works will inspire appreciation, reflection and enjoyment for years to come!

Perhaps one of the most incredible sculptures in the world. It was created by an unknown French sculptor in the 19th century. Stored in the Indian Museum Salar Jang.

There is a well-known sculpture called "The Double Statue of Mephistopheles and Margarita". The fact is that on one side of the statue there is a male figure, and on the other - a female one. There is a large mirror behind the sculpture so that you can see both figures and appreciate the skill of the author of this unusual creation. The sculpture is created from a single piece of the oldest sycamore tree.

If you're interested in real-life horror stories.... or in Baroque-era history.... or in the history of pandemics.... check out Monroe St. Press' most recent title.

In 1720, an epidemic of bubonic plague killed more than half the population of the French port city of Marseilles. "A Brief Journal of the Plague of Marseilles" is a day-by-day account kept by a city official, which captures the chaos, horror, and panic that swept the city during Western Europe's last major outbreak of the "Black Death".

Coming soon from Monroe St. Press....

A Brief Journal of the Plague of Marseilles (1720) by Pichatty de Croissainte

In the spring of 1720, a ship arrived at the French port of Marseille bearing valuable cargo — along with a deadly bacteria that would eventually kill more than 100,000 people in the city and the surrounding region of Provence.

This day-by-day account of the epidemic, kept by a city official, vividly describes its progress over 7 months (May-December 1720).

A wave of chaos, terror, and panic engulfed the city. But there were those who heroically stepped forward to help—even at the cost of their own lives.

NEW from Monroe St. Press:

The Blue Lagoon by H. DeVere Stacpoole (1908)

A timeless tale of two orphans marooned on a deserted island with only nature and their senses to guide them. Renowned not only as an Edwardian-style romance but for its vivid portrayal of life at sea and the wonders of the South Pacific.

Henry DeVere Stacpoole (1863-1951) was an Irish physician and author of more than 50 books. His experiences as a ship's doctor inspired many of his stories of the South Pacific and other locations.
