We are looking for the community's help tracking down details on a situation involving this pickup.

The vehicle was originally taken from the area of 7th and Fern, and was later found with a blown tire, abandoned under the train trussels on County Road EE.

We are looking for any video footage, photos, or eyewitness accounts that may help us figure out who is responsible for taking the vehicle. The vehicle was taken sometime between Sunday 7-20-2025 and was found Tuesday 7-23-2025.

If you live in the area, have a doorbell cam, or security cameras, please check it and let us know if you see anything suspicious.

Any information helps. Thanks for keeping an eye out and helping the community. Give us a call at 719-523-4511.

Baca County History Book Proof Ordered: See It at the Fair
The proof copy of the 1983 Baca County History Book reprint has officially been ordered, and we plan to have it available for viewing at the Baca County Fair.
You’ll get to see it just as it is — complete with a few warts and blemishes from the early scans. For example, we’ve already re-scanned all the even-numbered pages after noticing some image quality issues. This is part of our commitment to making the reprint as clear and true to the original as possible.
We’ve also been in contact with Valorie Millican at the museum, and we’re working on setting up a presentation about the upcoming Volume II of the history book. We’re aiming for Saturday afternoon after lunch. Stay tuned for details.
In the meantime, here are a few screenshots from the ordering process, just to give you a glimpse of what’s happening behind the scenes.
We’re excited to show you the progress — and to hear your ideas and stories for Volume II.
