So spent yesterday with media people filming a honorary banquet at the VFW IN Tehachapi honoring our Vietnam, Korean and WWII vets, Purple Heart recipients, and our brave military vets from all walks of life and ages. Got to hostile at 11pm. Showered, washing clothes, resetting for the Sierras. Staying in my tent still, as I refuse to sleep in a bed or hotel or hostel unless in my tent. Authentic thru hiking. Looking forward to getting new shoes in Kennedy Meadows as the pair I have now have 450 miles on them lol. Thanks my family, kids , sponsors and partners for your support and making sure I have what I need to continue on this expedition and building the brand. Today I resume a day of filming, and dumping content to Buzzz and the production company for the documentary series, Hiking for Hope.
Will have spotty service heading to Kennedy meadows, then will pick up Bear can, resupply box, and shoes. Thanks again for all the help and support. Meet Nicole Foster, known on trail as “Hot Mama,” a trail angel supporting hikers on their journey with warmth, hospitality, and heart. 💛

From living in multiple states and England to raising three kids and stepping into a new chapter of life, her story is one of resilience, generosity, and giving back to the hiking community.

Right now, she’s helping thru-hikers embrace the journey, one moment of kindness at a time. 🌲

Spc. Patricia Fowler receives her Purple Heart in 2010 for wounds sustained in action while deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Fowler was a crew member of a chase helicopter on a medevac mission when the aircraft came under enemy fire while flying over Helmand province. Five rounds hit the aircraft, and one of them ricocheted off the window frame and struck her helmet, leaving an entry and an exit hole. She sustained head trauma from the impact of the bullet and shrapnel that embedded in her left shoulder.
