🚨 HIDDEN GEM ALERT: The Open Skies Project is a MUST-VISIT in the Keweenaw! 🚨Open Skies Project

Dakota Adventures & Ramblin' with Renza recently had the opportunity to visit the Open Skies Project, and it quickly became one of the most fascinating destinations we've explored in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

Perched atop Mount Horace Greeley at the former Calumet Air Force Station, this incredible site offers a rare opportunity to step back into one of the most important chapters of American history. During the Cold War, this radar station served as part of the nation's early warning defense network, helping detect and track potential Soviet aircraft approaching North America. It's a powerful reminder that Northern Michigan played a much larger role in national defense than many people realize.

What makes this experience truly special is the passion and knowledge of the people preserving it. A huge thank you goes out to Ian, who provided an outstanding tour of the entire base. His knowledge of the station's history, operations, restoration efforts, and Cold War significance brought every building, bunker, radar platform, and abandoned street to life. The amount of education, storytelling, and historical context he shared made this much more than a tour—it was an unforgettable experience.
From the underground bunker and radar installations to the incredible panoramic views overlooking the Keweenaw, every stop offered a new perspective on both history and the future vision of this remarkable restoration project. The Open Skies Project is working to preserve one of the most complete Cold War radar stations remaining in the United States and make it accessible for future generations.

🏔️🔥 DREAMS TO TRESTLES! 🔥🏕️

Good morning Adventurers! Some adventures stay on your bucket list for years... and this week, one of ours finally became reality.
While making our way toward the beautiful Keweenaw Peninsula, Dakota Adventures had the opportunity to traverse the legendary Three Fire Steel Trestle Bridges along the historic Bill Nichols Trail near Mass City.

Ever since learning about these incredible steel structures two years ago, riding across them has been a dream. Standing high above the forest, surrounded by the rugged beauty of Michigan’s Copper Country, it was every bit as epic as we imagined. The views, the history, and the feeling of crossing these massive trestles made every mile worth it.

The best adventures are even better when shared with great people, and we’re incredibly thankful that another Northology Adventures Brand Ambassador Ramblin’ with Renza & also Erin Neiers was along for the journey. From the trail conversations to the unforgettable scenery, it made an already amazing experience even more memorable.

Moments like these are exactly why we chase adventure—because sometimes those places you’ve dreamed about for years end up exceeding every expectation.

🧭🏕️ NEXT STOP: WISCONSIN & THE UPPER PENINSULA! 🏕️🧭

The next two weeks are all about dirt roads, campfires, hidden trails, epic overlooks, and making memories that only happen when you leave the pavement behind. Dakota Adventures is hitting the road to explore the best of Wisconsin and part Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, chasing adventure wherever the trail leads! 🌲🚙🔥

We’re also excited to be joining the Trail Revival Project Campout hosted by , taking place June 12–14 in Langlade County, Wisconsin. The event combines camping, community, trail education, and hands-on stewardship to help preserve and improve access to the trails we all enjoy. Participants will spend the weekend giving back to the off-road community while enjoying great food, campfires, and fellow adventurers.

Whether we’re exploring the Northwoods, discovering new backroads, or volunteering to keep trails open for future generations, we’re proud to be part of a community that believes adventure and stewardship go hand in hand. 🌎❤️

Good morning Adventurers! Happy Saturday! I hope you all have big adventures planned for the weekend! 🇺🇸🏕️ Memorial Day Weekend done the Dakota Adventures way. Dirt roads, campfires, freedom, and good people around every trail bend. From sunrise coffee by the Jeep to late-night stories under the stars, this is what adventure is all about.

Good afternoon Adventurers! Happy Thursday! I am finally getting caught up from being on the road the last two weeks! I had the honor of attending a KORC trail clean up in Copper Harbor, MI last weekend! I was paired up with & who helped with the conservation of the peninsula! It was such a great experience helping give back to what helps provide so much adventure to all of us! I can’t thank everyone enough that attended & helped make this a success! I also want to give a big shout out to for supplying a few giveaways for the Northology Adventures Group & rewarding them for their hard work over last weekend. Also thank you to & for their contributions to the weekend as well!
