As Missouri State University is investing in both its Theatre & Dance Department facilities and the students who come through the program, a trio of the school’s alums are among those either embarking on new roles on Broadway in New York City or set to hit the road in a national theater production this fall.

Sadie Dickerson, Janae Hammond (pictured) and Claire Marshall, who all currently call New York City home, are making successful moves in their young acting careers. All three of them credit the Springfield university for helping pave the way toward improving what Josh Young, associate professor and coordinator of BFA Musical Theatre at MSU, calls “the business of themselves.”

Sadie Dickerson, Janae Hammond and Claire Marshall now call NYC home.

The Gillioz Theatre, the historic vaudeville house that operates through a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has shown itself to be surprisingly spry, considering it will become an octogenarian in 2026.

In the past two months, the theater has forged a partnership through its operator, the Gillioz Center for Arts and Entertainment, with two Queen City mainstays – the Historic Fox Theatre, located on Park Central Square, and nearby Hammons Field, home of the Springfield Cardinals.

Staff will draw in acts for Fox Theatre, Hammons Field.
