4 years ago I planted a tiny tray of seeds, hoping to bring something fresh and vibrant to my family’s meals. What started as a small experiment turned into a passion—and now a way to grow for those in our community as well as local restaurants and markets!

Every week, I harvest crisp, nutrient‑packed microgreens at the perfect peak of flavor. My kids snack on them like candy. My neighbors tell me their salads, sandwiches, and smoothies have never tasted so alive. And now—I want to share that with you.

Having trouble getting your kids to eat their greens?

Introduce them slow
Serve them with familiar food
Have them help make the meal
Blend it up to make a smoothie

Remember, we eat with our eyes and so do they...make their plate look fun by adding colors and shapes!

Hi all,
It's been a little while since I've been on here but I’m just not great about posting! This past Spring, Summer and Fall was busy. Along with growing and delivering to our loyal restaurants and CSA members we started to have our greens at two markets (Boulay Farm and Market and Maine Homestead). It was a slow start but once the season got going and some of you found us, weekly deliveries were made to each market. McDougal's opened in August and closed in October. Although it is a short season that we have our greens in the barn they flew off the shelves.
The colder weather slows deliveries down for some of our restaurants. Normally the CSA continues through the year, but I decided to put a pause on it in October to prepare for the holidays, take in this time with my family and revaluate what 2025 will look like for Sister Chicks Farm.

What will 2025 look like for Sister Chicks? Well, I'm still trying to figure out what that is. Continue on as scheduled with restaurants, markets and CSA's? Or is it to break into the farmers market world, hit the ground and pick up several new restaurants,
or start a new business endeavor…
Only time will tell!
Both of my girls will be in school full-time this fall so I will have a little bit more time to put into what this next phase will look like.

Hi, I'm Colleen and I'm so happy you're here! At Sister Chicks Farm we offer a wide variety of healthy and flavorful microgreens to restaurants, markets and Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) shares in Southern Maine and the Seacoast of New Hampshire. Our seeds and growing medium are organic, and Sister Chicks Farm is licensed and insured. 

In 2020 we got our first chickens.  When they started to produce my daughters and I started a small delivery business.  We called ourselves, Sister Chicks Farm! We delivered to local family and friends. Caring for the chickens and gathering and delivering their eggs has instilled a form of responsibility for the girls along with taking a liking for farm animals.      

I spent my earlier childhood growing up on a local apple orchard with farm animals too.

I took an interest in learning about microgreens after having my second child and deciding to leave my hospice social work job and stay home with my girls.  I soon found a love for these fast growing and healthy little plants.  

Growing microgreens has given me the freedom to "fill my own cup" and be present with my family.   

I appreciate what this adventure has taught my daughters and continues to teach me. I feel grateful to be a part of your kitchen, whether it's in your own or in a restaurant we provide to. We hope you will love the experience of our microgreens and all of the benefits they provide just as much as we do.

You can now pickup your microgreens at Maine Homestead Market. Our micros pair well with charcuterie and this market has everything you need to make one too. From cheese, crackers, meats, sweets and don’t forget the wine! You will find everything you need and more🌱🧀🥩🍫🍷

I’ve been keeping a little secret 🤫 You can get our microgreens on any bagel . If you’re wanting to spice things up, add them to The Worx or if you like to keep it simple, add them on top of any bagel with cream cheese 🥯 🌱Don’t forget about Bella’s dripped coffee with homemade brown sugar syrup!
