Springville residents will recognize local history in a new book by Thomas J. Geelan that was just published in May. The book features The Townsend Hotel, which was built on Drake Road in Springville in 1819. In the book, which is a historical fictional novel that takes place in the mid-1800s, a group of slave catchers are hiding in the hotel before they “meet their end here in Springville,” as Geelan describes it.

Twelfth grade students from Springville-Griffith Institute participated in the annual Griffins Day of Giving on June 5. The seniors spent the day around Springville and Colden at many local organizations, lending a hand with painting, yard work and other tasks. One group had a different mission. Six students, part of the S-GI Youth Wellness Team, working with the Springville Regional Coalition, participated in Project Sticker Shock.
