Disabled 3-Year-Old Girl Killed After Mother Sets Fire in Virginia Home

A 3-year-old girl with disabilities was killed after her mother set a fire inside a home in Hampton, Virginia, early Monday morning, according to officials.

The child, identified as Jamie Lee, died at the scene.

Police say 34-year-old Destiny Wilson poured gasoline on herself and set herself on fire around 7 a.m. while inside her mother’s home, where several family members were staying. The flames spread quickly through the house.

Relatives tried to save Wilson by rushing her into a shower to put out the fire. At the same time, Jamie was in the front part of the home, where the fire rapidly intensified. Family members were unable to reach the child as the flames grew out of control.

Hampton Fire & Rescue said crews arrived to find heavy fire and people still inside. The blaze was brought under control by 7:21 a.m., but Jamie was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wilson was transported to a hospital with severe burns and later died from her injuries.

Six people were inside the home when the fire started, including a 10-year-old who survived. No other serious injuries have been reported.

Family members said Wilson struggled with mental illness and had previously been institutionalized.

They also said she had threatened su***de in the past and was overwhelmed caring for her daughter, who had autism, cerebral palsy, and a condition that caused self-harm.

Neighbor Larry Spivey said he saw emergency crews rushing toward the home. “I saw all the smoke… I was really scared. I didn’t know what to think,” he said.

The fire remains under investigation by Hampton fire officials. A candlelight vigil is planned as the family prepares for funeral arrangements.

EZ V**E AND SMOKE CLOSES PERMANENTLY IN DOWNTOWN ST. LOUIS

EZ V**e and Smoke, located in downtown St. Louis, has officially shut its doors permanently after months of controversy, police raids, and complaints from residents and business owners. Reports say the shop, located on North 10th Street, was at the center of numerous calls for service involving overdoses, fights, assaults, shots fired, and alleged drug activity. (https://www.firstalert4.com)

The business was previously raided by police after investigators allegedly found illegal THC products being sold without a Missouri license. City officials later revoked the shop’s occupancy permit, while the owner also faced a legal dispute with the landlord. (https://www.firstalert4.com)

People living downtown had been speaking out for months, saying the area around the shop became out of control and unsafe. Now that the store is gone, many residents say the atmosphere in that part of downtown already feels calmer.

One thing about downtown STL, people just want to feel safe walking to their cars, apartments, and businesses without constant chaos going on outside. At this point, a lot of residents feel like enough was enough.
