How do you get or remain organized? A big part of my mental health regimen is understanding what needs to be done. So, I am a bit of a fanatic about planning. The only problem is that I am not naturally a planner. I am not what most people would consider a details person. So, I realized many years ago that I needed tools. So, I started using all the tech tools. I was probably the first person with a Franklin Covey electronic calendar. Then I moved up to a Palm Pilot. Then a Treo phone. Eventually, life blessed me with Project Management tools. I have become addicted to Trello. I have used it for decades now. Now, I'm wondering if I should be upgrading. I recently revisited BaseCamp. I am also considering the MS tool Planner. Does anyone have experience or recommendations for either? It's for my mental health. Thank you.

A friend asked this weekend, "How do I get started running? What's the first step?" My answer: Chose one hour a week that you will claim for yourself and your fitness. Start with one hour a week and guard it like your life depended on it. In fact, it does. Just start doing healthy stuff during that time. Meditate, stretch, walk, jog, walk-jog, breathe, be still. Just get started doing you. The running will come after you develop a routine of showing up for yourself.

About Harlan

It is my belief that people find meaning, purpose, and happiness through meaningful work. Meaningful work is labor that results in the enhancement of others. The act of exercising one's gifts brings joy to the individual while the act of service to others creates a stronger community. Thus, the individual and society are interdependent. The act of working for and with each other enhances the individuals and the relationship. Ultimately, the quality of one's life and the well-being of any community can be measured by the quality and quantity of their connections. There is no greater method of enhancing social bonds than cooperative labor. The most efficient method is the sharing of stories.
