Tragic news: Malcolm-Jamal Warner has passed away at the age of 54. The actor was in Costa Rica enjoying a family vacation when he drowned while swimming, a source confirms to PEOPLE. A representative for Warner has not yet responded to requests for comment.

Warner is best known for his iconic role as Theo Huxtable on *The Cosby Show*, where he played the only son of Heathcliff Huxtable (Bill Cosby) from 1984 to 1992.
