Tearing tech apart and rebuilding it from scratch takes hundreds of hours. YouTube gives you an overview, but real proficiency? That takes dedication and focused learning. It's a long journey, not a quick fix.

Explore how 3D TLS Laser building scanning was used to capture a shopping center's details for design accuracy in Rolla, MO.

We were hired to scan the shopping center at 1210 Hwy 72 in Rolla, MO. The contractors needed the dimensions of the building, including the facade and parapet, with which to design it's replacement. Using the Artec Ray II TLS lidar laser 3D scanner, we scanned the entire building in a matter of hours. The data was merged and edited to create the final result above. There were several obstacles which had to be removed such as benches, trash cans, dumpsters, cars and others that posed challenges. using a 30' tall mast/tripod system, we were able to get the scanner high enough to deal with these issues. The end result is a highly detailed 3D model of this existing structure. The model you see here has had the resolution reduced substantially so as to meet the 200mb upload limit.

Imagine scanning any object—trophies, baseballs, even a cowboy hat—and seeing an exact replica on your computer screen. That's the power of 3D scanning. It's a game-changer.

Remember those old 3D glasses? The effect was cool but...not quite real. Now, what you see on the screen is exactly what you'd see in real life. This changes everything.

Laser scanners cost a fortune, but that's not the whole story. Experience and knowing how to translate data into effective models are key. It's more than just hardware; it's understanding how to use it effectively.

Artifacts from the 1904 Worlds Fair to the Sled used by Robert E. Peary's Final Polar Expedition can be preserved by scanning them and turning them into 3D models. The Missouri History Museum uses our service for this purpose, allowing even seeing-impaired clients to experience history firsthand.

One artist I work with creates small-scale artwork, then it's scanned it to create a model which is sent to his client's for approval. One model, about the size of a bowling ball, was scaled and 3D-printed at 4 feet in diameter! The tech is amazing.

It's amazing to think about how things were made before. Think of a steam locomotive—all those parts, drawn and fitted by hand. Now? Scan it, and you have a 3D model instantly. Automation changes everything.

These crucial dies, created 50 years ago, had no backups. By scanning and converting them to CAD, the company can recreate them precisely if the originals break. Protecting their metal forming business!

Watch as a high-end laser scanner captures an entire vehicle in 3D. This technology allows manufacturers to develop products that fit perfectly without any fitment issues. It's especially useful since auto companies don't typically provide CAD information.

I went to Columbus, Ohio and scanned elevator motors. They were reverse engineering to create new adaptations. If they don't have the plans, you can scan the entire building and reproduce the whole thing in AutoCAD. The scanner knows what level is as far as gravity is concerned.
