The Mid-America Board of Governors is excited to welcome Dave Sharp to the Silver Circle!
With more than four decades in television, Dave’s 41-year career stands as a testament to his unwavering passion for storytelling. He began his journey in Myrtle Beach, SC, where he taught himself to shoot and edit video, while also stepping in front of the camera to host a daily 30-minute talk show and appear in regional commercials.
His path took him through newsrooms in Wilmington, NC, and Chattanooga, TN, before he joined KTVI in St. Louis in 1989—a station he’s called home for over three decades.
At Fox2Now, Dave’s work has spanned some of the most significant moments in recent history. He was the sole cameraman granted access to film the meeting between Pope John Paul II and President Bill Clinton—an unforgettable moment in global news. He’s documented championship wins for the St. Louis Cardinals, the Rams, and the Blues. And for the past 20 years, Dave has served as a cornerstone of KTVI’s investigative unit, partnering with reporter Chris Hayes on stories that have earned national recognition.
Dave’s excellence behind the camera has earned him more than 30 Regional Emmy Awards and seven Edward R. Murrow Awards—a testament to a career defined by quality, integrity, and impact.
Outside the newsroom, Dave has contributed his skills to a military training company that prepares elite special forces units for mission-critical operations—an experience he describes as humbling and inspiring. However, Dave’s greatest passion may be animal rescue. A dedicated advocate for vulnerable animals, he volunteers and serves on the boards of several local shelters, including the Carol House Quick Fix Pet Clinic. At home, he cares for a pack of seven dogs, five of whom have special needs.
