In a new video, an educator argues that public schools only spotlight the transatlantic slave trade while ignoring centuries of enslavement across the world — including the Ottoman Empire, the trans-Indian slave trade, and other global systems that existed long before and long after the Atlantic era.

He claims the issue isn’t the history itself… but how it’s framed, saying schools present a narrow lens that distorts context and paints the U.S. as uniquely responsible. He argues that students deserve the full picture so they can understand world history, not just American history.

How sweet is this. Hello, 314! I was born in Seoul, South Korea. Immigrated to Warren, Ohio, age 5. Then spent a couple years in Youngstown, Ohio, but most of my formative years (4th-12th grade) were in St Louis, Missouri.
