Advanced middle school through collegiate โ the last exercise in The Playful Choir is about holding your own rhythm against what you hear everyone else doing.
Two groups: Group 1 claps straight through. Group 2 claps the same rhythm, but counts aloud between each repetition โ counting 1 to 8. After 8 cycles, the patterns realign.
Then Jonas mixes 1s and 2s across the choir โ no one stands next to their group anymore. Each singer must hold their own structure without the help of neighbors. The moment when both groups converge after 8 cycles is one of the most satisfying in the book.
