“Career preparedness is one thing, but many agree that stories are the most important element gained from the college experience. Stories meant to be shared that portray the reality of the human condition. There are so many different stories all around you in college. You meet people who become your best friends in a week, yet once their true colors are revealed, you find them unbearable. You meet people with no concept of money because they have had the privilege of always being “comfortable,” and others who have to pretend they have money to fit in. Then you meet people who work two jobs and can still barely afford the cost of living but make it work for the promise of a better future. Sitting next to them is the student with a 2.0 GPA, who thinks college is stupid and doesn’t need to care because they have a well-paying pseudo-job set aside through familial connections.”

“There is political violence coming from both the left and the right, and it has made America more divided than ever. But throughout all of this, one thing is certain: as Americans, we must unite against the threat of political violence, advocate for peaceful discourse and stand together in upholding the values that define our nation. Only by rejecting violence can we hope to maintain the integrity of our political system and our society.”

“As college students, we have not taken the initiative to learn about the city we reside in, and Saint Louis University has failed to educate us on it. The boastful city of St. Louis is the pinnacle of beauty and waste. Filled with abandoned homes, the city neglects its potential by letting them rot depending on the economic status of each block. St. Louis is choosy. Street by street you feel the difference, and this can be easily seen just around SLU’s campus as well.”

“One of the more popular areas in the city, the Delmar Loop, attracts many St. Louis residents, particularly Washington University and SLU students. The street blossoms with color and attractions. As you walk with friends, you will notice a variety of shops such as record stores, tattoo parlors, art shops, clothing stores and other miscellaneous things. In my experience, Delmar flaunts with character and music.”

“Though, there are some things you will not see on the websites gushing about the greatness of the Delmar Loop, and that is that its bright neon signs pull the light away from the bleak and stark reality that it signifies the greatest racial divide in the United States.”

“From the very first frame, it is clear that director Osgood Perkins attempts to create something different with ‘Longlegs.’ While the film may have all the trappings of the classic horror movies that came before it, such as, a mysterious killer, supernatural tendencies and a protagonist with an unknown past, the film is much more than a classic horror. It is something completely new, giving the audience levels of fear that must be seen to be believed.

‘Longlegs’ follows the rookie FBI agent Lee Harker (Maika Monroe) as she attempts to catch the notorious serial killer, Longlegs (Nicolas Cage), a mysterious murderer who managed to kill numerous families without leaving a single sign of his presence behind. While this plot may seem basic, Perkins manages to elevate this film by embellishing one important aspect: cinematography.”

“Employees at Saint Louis University claim the university continues to offer an ‘unacceptable wage package,’ one that they have overwhelmingly turned down three times as SLU’s negotiation team offers little change.

The employees consist of Service Employees International Union local 1 janitors, ground and maintenance crew workers on campus. They claim as a collective that they are being underappreciated by the university despite ensuring a clean and safe campus environment.

About 25 union workers gathered in front of the Busch Student Center on Thursday, April 25, in protest of SLU’s wage package and subsections within the contract.”
