Saint Dominic of Silos (1000 - 1073)
Growing up as a shepherd in the mountains of Spain, he became endeared to solitude and gratitude for entering the local Benedictine monastery. Known as a miracle worker and a ransom payer for Christians in his day, the big part of his enduring legacy is with the name of the Dominican order, because Saint Dominic de Guzman bears his name, his mother prayed for a son at the shrine of Saint Dominic of Milos.
