Today's Devotional:
There’s a difference between being tired and running on empty. You can recover from being tired with a little rest. But being empty…

Nahum 1:7 says, “The Lord is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.”

What if God isn’t just a place of refuge when things fall apart? He can be a safe place now. A source of strength for you, today. Don’t wait until you’re completely out of your strength to rely on His.

A Prayer for Strength When I’m Empty:
God, your word says that you are good and a refuge
You care for me
Please be my refuge now and always
Help me rely on you instead of pushing through alone
That’s so tiring and draining
You have a better way
Amen

Today's Devotional:
Distance from God is not permanent, no matter how far someone may seem from Him. No one has gone too far, missed too much, or wandered too long.

In Luke 19, Jesus makes His mission crystal clear: “The Son of Man came to seek and save the Lost.” Luke 19:10.

So no matter how much time has passed, Jesus isn’t passive. He’s not waiting with his arms crossed and frustrated until people find him. No, Jesus moves towards people. We can literally see this when He left Heaven 2000 years ago, but He’s still in the business of seeking, pursuing, and restoring people today.

That includes the people you’re thinking about right now.

A Prayer for Someone Far from God:
Jesus, thank you for pursuing people who are far from you
You love them and want what's best for them
My heart hurts knowing that they’re not loving you
Please continue to go after them with your kindness
I pray that they stop running and begin walking with you
Amen

As much as we’d love all of the clarity all at once, it doesn't work like that most of the time. We don’t get the full picture, just the next puzzle piece.

Psalm 119 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” Psalm 119:105.

Does a lamp illuminate a football field? Nope. Just usually the next step or two. This is how God leads us. Close. Through reading and hearing His Word, He gives you guidance and will show you the next best step to take.

When you hear His voice, you can move forward with confidence. He gives you direction to take a step, and He goes with you. If you want to pray for direction, you’re not alone. Pray this with us today:

God, thank You for speaking through the Bible
Sometimes You speak through other Christians, too.
You speak, and You’re close
Help me hear You. Do I need to slow down or be quiet to listen?
Please guide my thoughts, decisions, and direction… today
One step at a time.
Amen

After all the fixing, controlling, managing, and effort, some things just don’t move. Nothing changes. Now what?

In the middle of a threat, God speaks these words to His people. “You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the Lord will be with you.” 2 Chronicles 20:17.

How can divine intervention be either the best news or hardest to hear? Because sometimes doing nothing feels… irresponsible. But God isn’t calling them to literally do nothing. He’s calling them, and us, to trust.

Not every battle is yours. Some require us to stand still and trust God long enough to see what He’ll do. Here’s your one thought: some battles belong to God, and not you.

If you want to surrender a battle to God, we have a guided prayer for you here:

God, I’m tired from carrying something that I might not need to be carrying
Show me what’s mine to do, and what only you can do
Help me trust you with what I cannot fix or control
I surrender this battle to you
Please fight for me, now.
Amen.

There’s a limit to what you can do.

Did you just get frustrated or take a sigh of relief? It’s the honest truth. Your ability to change the outcome is limited. Your strength, influence, and capacity are limited.

But there’s no limit to what God can do. Ephesians 3:20 says that God is “able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine.”

God is not constrained by your limitations like we are. So when you pray, pray for your life, for others, for situations that feel too big. But be reminded that you’re talking to a God who can do far more than you ever could. You’re not crazy for praying big.

If you want to trust God with a big prayer, pray with us now:

God, I bring you the things I cannot control
That list is long
But I recognize that You’re able to do way more than I can imagine
Please work in my life and the lives of others in ways only you can
Stretch our faith
I will never get to the end of who you are
Thank you, God

Has anyone ever told you something and you didn’t know how to respond? Or maybe you’re thinking about someone right now who's hurting, and you don’t know what more you can do. Sometimes the most natural response to someone else’s situation is to worry.

What if there’s a better way? Psalm 145:18 says, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

Think of this person you’re worried about. God is not far from them. He is reachable. He is nearer than you think.

So instead of worrying, what if you prayed with that person? Prayer is one of the best ways you can bring someone into that awareness of God’s nearness. If there’s someone on your mind today, pray with us today:

God, You know exactly who I’m thinking about right now
I pray for _______.
I’m comforted to know that You love and care for them more than I do
Please come close to them in a real and personal way
Help them call on You and experience Your presence
Use me however You want in their life
Amen.

If you experienced Jesus personally, it would make sense that you would want to stay glued to his side. This happened in Mark 5 when Jesus healed a man, and the man didn't want to leave, but Jesus told him…

“Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you.” Mark 5:19

This isn’t Jesus shaking off old news. This is Jesus giving purpose to a man. We all need purpose, don’t we?

Purpose is hardwired in us. We long for it and try to find it everywhere, but Jesus gives us a lasting purpose that impacts us and everyone around us. Your story, your growth, and your faith are meant to point others to what God has done.

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to go and share what's real. Jesus sends you with what He’s doing in you. If you’re wondering who God might be sending you to, we have a prayer that might help right here:

Jesus, thank You for what You’ve done in my life
I want to take a moment and remember Your faithfulness
[pause and think of your story with Jesus]
Please show me who needs to hear about You
Is there anyone already in my life that You’re sending me to?
Give me the courage to share simply, honestly, and with love
Please use my story to point others to You
Amen.
