Another day, another epic loss. What a horrible week this has been for my childhood.
I’ve just learned that Peter Cullen has passed away. Among his many, many voice roles, he was the voice of Optimus Prime in the original Transformers series and the 1986 film as well.
I’m so glad I had the chance to meet him when he appeared alongside Frank “Megatron” Welker a few years ago in Dallas. I waited in line watching everyone pose with their signed collectibles trying to decide what I was going to do. When I got up to them, I asked if we could pose as if I was breaking up a fight between them. They immediately bust out laughing and then struck the pose you see in the 2nd picture.
They say “Don’t meet your heroes.” but I’m very glad I got to meet Peter Cullen.

Losing Tim Curry right on the heels (no pun intended) of Dolly Parton’s passing adds insult to injury. Talk about a versatile performer - between his stage roles, his singing and his films, Tim Curry racked up 3 Tony Awards, 2 Olivier Awards, 1 Emmy Award and 2 Grammy nominations. The images shown below are just a fraction of the incredible roles he inhabited during his career.
The old saying goes that you can learn a lot about a person based on where they know Tim Curry from, but today, just the fact that we all know him from somewhere is enough. And no matter which role first introduced you to him, remember that you were lucky enough, in all the millions of years that the universe has existed, to share the same fraction of time on this blue & green sphere as the great Tim Curry. 🥺😔
