If you’re looking for the perfect travel camera in 2026, the Lumix S9 and Nikon ZR are two exciting options. The Lumix S9 shines with its compact full-frame design, lightweight body, and excellent video features for vloggers and content creators on the go. Meanwhile, the Nikon ZR brings impressive image quality, fast autofocus, and versatile performance for both photography and video.
I use the Lumix S9 in Southeast Asia for 3 months this year and never had any issues or overheating. But as I check out the ZR big screen, 32 bit float and integrated electronic hot shoe with plug and play mic I think dang is this a better camera for the job.
If you know me I like all-in-one setup. The less things I have to add the better. Like my wired mic works well, but no wire is better when you’re on the go. And yes I know Canon has the same minus the 32 bit float. I’m probably going to get this camera as an all-in-one setup and only add a cage for vertical mounting and low shots.
No I’m not selling the S9 because it does a great job as a EDC camera. Lumix should take some of the ZR features like 4” screen and multifunctional hot shoe plus add some mounting points for a future version of the S9ll. The 32 bit float can be in camera or in the mic I really don’t care as long as there’s no wire. But please add a grip and CF card with integrated memory. So…..
