In this episode, the Two Talking Fools Podcast finally stopped by Big Star Afro Cuisine in East Hartford to try two African staples we’d been hearing about for months: fufu and egusi soup.

From the moment we walked in, it felt like more than just a meal—it felt like an experience. Great food, incredible hospitality, and a warm family atmosphere made this one a visit we won’t forget.

If you’ve ever been curious about African cuisine, this is the place to start.

Last night, the Two Talking Fools stopped by Big Star Afro Cuisine for some authentic African food, and from the moment we walked in, we knew we were in for something special.

As people came through the door, everyone seemed to know each other and couldn’t stop talking about how good the food was. It felt less like a restaurant and more like a family gathering.

And they were right. The food was incredible, but what really stood out was the hospitality. We were welcomed like family and could feel the culture, pride, and warmth in everything—from the atmosphere to every dish that came to the table.

Thank you for an amazing meal and an unforgettable experience. We can’t wait to come back. ❤️

People ask SHABA and me all the time what we’re up to and if it’s all just jokes and fun with the podcast… and honestly, no. We balance the fun with conversations that make us stop, listen, and think.

We recently sat down with John Peffer, who is living with and fighting ALS, and it was one of those interviews that sticks with you.

If you don’t know anyone affected by ALS, John really put so much into perspective for us — not just the diagnosis itself, but the reality of navigating it, preparing, advocating, and continuing to live fully while fighting forward. He’s currently on his way to Congress to advocate for ALS warriors and push for awareness and change.

One thing that stayed with me was hearing why ALS is sometimes called “the bankruptcy disease” because of the incredible amount of resources, planning, and support it can take to keep moving forward.

Here’s a quick clip. Full interview is available on the Two Talking Fools Podcast — streaming on all major platforms and listened to around the world.
