Challenging race at Oak Ridge on Sunday. Trails were very dry and dusty. It's one of those rides where you cant trust a berm, they lie to you that you can lean hard and rail the turn when its an illusion and that berm will blow out and send you down the hill.

I did get another great start, holeshot and leading the class for a few miles. Felt awesome and flowy for only 1 day of practice after a week vacation and riding on the big bike. Problem was a hill with 40 riders and bikes stuck on every line. I tried to make a new line through the woods and got stuck on roots. Had to go back down and make another run. Got stuck again near the top and had to push the bike up the last 20ft. Arms were smoked from the push and I was riding slow for half a lap to recover.

The hill took me from 1st to 5th and I had to dig deep physically and mentally to crank the intensity to 11. Managed to move from 5th to 2nd but couldn't close the gap Darren had on me in 1st place.

Are you putting in the work to reach your riding goals? I put in the work and now I'm getting some training this weekend. I just signed up for a 2-day ride Shane Watts Dirtwise ride clinic at Charles City Dirt Riders this weekend. Looks like a couple spots left if anyone wants to get in on it. Camping Sat night, so should be a fun weekend. https://www.shanewatts.com/schools

I was able to get the holeshot, but jammed up behind a stalled rider and Tom got around me. I was on his fender for quite a while and he was up to a 14sec lead going into the 3rd lap. I managed to close the gap and reel him in for a pass and then put another 50 sec lead down before the checkered flag.
2nd P1, so pretty stoked with the results this season.
Thanks to my family and friends for all of the encouragement to help keep me motivated in my workout, training, and nutrition.

Had a great first round race at the VCHSS Joe Lloyd Memorial.

I started off the line running in 3rd place, but managed to put together a couple passes and move up the the lead. I wasnt able to see my position during the race going through scoring, so I thought I had one more in front of me. I ran hard trying to catch the leader...turns out I was just out in front and pushing as fast as I could go.

At the end of the race, I saw for the first time that I came in 1st place in my class.

Thanks to my family and friends for all of the encouragement to help keep me motivated in my workout, training, and nutrition.
