Memories Echoing Through the Wind by Henry Wagner
Abounding Favor Publishing Company
At 87 years old, Henry Wagner has witnessed a lot, but not as much as he has lived. Completed a few days before his death, Memories Echoing Through the Wind chronicles his life but begins much before that. It may be hard for some to read as it deals with racism and the hardships that African Americans in this country have had to bear. But this book is also about accomplishments and family and love. This book is about life. It begins at the earliest beginning that he knows, from tales that were told to him from his grandfather that were passed down to him from his father, and so on. Many, many years before Henry was born, his great-great-grandmother and his great-great-grandfather were stolen and brought here in chains and put in the hole on different ships from Africa and sold as slaves...
Not having the same privileges as others would have deterred most people, but Henry Wagner used the resiliency that he had to use in order to be a success. The great-grandson of a slave, who was born of a White man, and an African-descent slave mother, Henry Wagner defied all odds. From sharecropper to attorney and fighter for the down-trodden of mankind, his story is still necessary. If you want to read a historical perspective of growing up Black in America, the Early Days, you have to read this book.
