Ok, guess I’ll play along with the 2016 thing.

it’s funny bc literally 2 day ago my therapist & I talked about mainly 2014-2016 the whole session. & today people want to bring back up that time.

First off, I hope 10 years ago brings back fond memories for you. I hope it brings back happy times an helps you remember nothing but fun days.

For me though, this year changed everything. It was a storm ⛈️

2016 was the year I moved to Los Angeles for the 2ND TIME. Yeah I moved there again after I got sick the 1st time and had to move back home to Connecticut. I never knew it back then, but that “sickness” was actually constant panic attacks.

After a rough 2015, I finally saved up enough from working 2 jobs I dreaded to get back to LA. And after 3 months back there, I was living out of my car. LUCKILY— with a job.

Sleeping in a car is dangerous af in LA—but LUCKILY I had a job at the time. Even better yet, it was a job working as a valet in Hollywood! We would park in secure/locked down parking garages everyday for work! So even though I had to get a gym membership to shower, went to libraries to use computers during my down time and was picking up doubles as much as I could so I didn’t have to be in my car too-too often, at least I could use my job’s parking garages to sleep right?

Nope.

I got written up for sleeping there. And when I got caught, my response was simple. “I’m going to do it again.” And I did… til I got suspended. With very little money to my name after getting scammed when trying to find an apartment for myself. I had pretty much nothing.

I tried doing some postmates deliveries & just whatever I could to get some money back in my pocket, but I soon realized … this wasn’t it. This city wasn’t for me.

I checked how much money I had. $250? Believe it or not, that’ll get you across the money back in 2016. At least I was willing to gamble it would. I remember the exact night that I got on the highway and left the city for good and drove 3,000 miles back home.

When I got back home, I got a job at a college. At that job I got to sit on a computer a lot. During that time… I started looking into YouTube.

just felt like posting.

maybe you feel like reading?

though this picture was taken as a goofy spur of the moment…it’s hitting me different today. as the years have gone by, my close friends and i have just.. grown apart more and more. & it hurts… a lot.

there’s times ill watch old photos, or have memories pop up in my phone and i get to see their faces again. I get to relive those moments with them— and a few years back i did believe some things were just “a phase” between us.. or i would say “nah, it’s cool. Everything is good— they’re just doing their own thing right now!” Nowadays… it’s setting in that it’s not a phase. Growing apart from people is a mandatory change in life that you just have to accept. Doesn’t mean it’s necessarily a bad thing either.

GROW-ing apart… yup, it has the word “grow” in it. Something that’s necessarily for us to evolve 🌱

If they ever need me—they know where to find me. I for one could’ve prevented many burned bridges, admittedly. I’ve never been savvy at picking up the phone to check in on people… same time, i would drive out the state at 3:17 am for someone at the drop of a hat if i needed to. That’s how just i am i guess..

What does any of this have to do with this picture, you might ask? Me between 2 of these cool sculptures reminded me of a time in my life where they weren’t wooden sculptures. They were 2 friends by my side. That I’ll always love forever.
