Did you know that properly written, well-built websites are having a resurgence? Why is that? Here's a little history and explanation of why websites are more important than ever in 2025 and beyond.

Mid-90s: owning a website was near irrelevant for businesses. It was still catching on and most people had no idea how to find businesses online.

2000s: definitely relevant. Big websites with lots of good information were popular.

2010s: social media made websites less relevant. Many of those that had websites only wanted a basic one-page presence. They also wanted a more professional email, so they'd buy their own domains for email, so why not at least have a simple website too? Blogs became mostly irrelevant because blog-type content lived on social media.

2020: People left social media in droves. Websites became relevant again because what else is out there? Blog-type content moved back to blogs due to the SEO impacts.

2025: The internet is drowning in AI-produced slop. Low-effort, templated brochure sites don't build trust anymore. People are looking ever more closely for any sign of authenticity, social proof, unpolished writing and photos.

Properly built websites are now a top priority so businesses and organizations can stand above the AI garbage. Even better, a great website is proven by its authentic writing style.
