The Righteous Self

In my limited opinion, the loud and pious profession of righteousness should be a warning for me. There have been times when I did not heed that warning.

It appears to me that there are those who will cloak themselves in sanctity while bringing harm and pain to others for their own gain. They say to the world:

“We are in a constant spiritual battle, fighting the forces of evil using the “whole armor of God”, which is the very principle upon which our listening audience respects and deserves. To that end, we serve our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who our Father raised from the dead so that we who believe shall not perish but have eternal life.”

And so I am moved to write what I feel and what I have been taught:

“You will recognize them by their fruits. Are grapes gathered from thorn bushes and figs from thistles?” - Matthew 7:16

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirit to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” - 1 John 4:1

“A good man out of the good treasures of his heart brings forth good, and the evil man out of the evil treasures of his heart brings forth the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of.” Luke 6:45

And from all of this I have personally learned:

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” - Romans 12:21

“Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone.” - Romans 12:17

As I search for meaning in this difficult time, I consider that the most damaging pain you can experience is not physical pain. When you have harmed others without cause, those who befriended you and worked for your success, that pain hits within you. You can avoid the punishment of the legal world, you can avoid the consequences of your deeds in society, and you might even profit from what you have done and raised your standing in the world at their expense. But you can’t avoid the greater damage that you have done to your soul.

This is a self-inflicted wound and it is like a sharp toothed creature consuming you from the inside out. All of the gold, all of the glory, all that you claim for yourself will not pay a single coin towards the debt you have brought to yourself.

We have all been taught “So in everything, do unto others as you would have them do unto you” (Matt. 7:12). If you are not moved by that teaching, if the words are hollow and meaningless to you, it may already be too late.

And for me, somehow I am finding strength and understanding in this sad set of events. I was at first angry, vengeful and demanding to know why. But I have moved to a place where I am gratefully absorbing the lessons that are being taught and I am looking forward to where I will go next.

There is still time. There is still time enough.

Consider this... Kindness is sometimes mistaken for softness or weakness. That's a mistake you do not want to make. Kind people are not born that way. They are forged in the fire and darkness and stars gone nova. They have steel cores. You throw a punch at them and you break your hand. Kind people are kind because they know life is not. They seek to help because they know first hand what helplessness is. Transgress against a kind person and you will not prosper.

So the dream turned out to be a nightmare. This is my limited opinion but I feel the need to make the truth as I know it public. David Krieger and Linda Kelly got RJ Malloy and Pete O'Shea to put in many hours of work and effort to create the new WEAG and everything you see publicly and behind the scenes was through our efforts, including a loan approval from DLP Bank and the conversion of the station from old analog to digital. They then fired us for made up reasons and refused to pay what we are owed and broke all promises made to us. I don't think this is how espoused Christians should behave. The final straw is a letter from an attorney saying my use of a company van for four weeks was full payment for my services. I intend to fight this to the best of my ability.

I am saddened that WEAG has served this community for over 40 years and that it should be so deeply damaged by all of this. My sincere apologies to the Starke and Bradford communities for not being able to prevent this.

And finally, to the best of my knowledge David Krieger is a federally convicted felon who may have perjured himself on his FCC application. I will be providing that information to the FCC by registered mail.

This is why we are having our yard sale today so we can raise enough money to purchase these vests for The Bradford County Sheriff’s Department’s first responders.

We will be here selling items until 1 PM. We are more than half way to our goal to be able to buy two vests. The manufacturer will match our donation as well!
