Got to play a Porchfest in Decatur, GA this past weekend and it was a freaking blast (despite the hurricane’s best attempts to shut it down and forcing a shift from a band show to an acoustic one). I forget how much I love playing live music - even acoustic - sometimes!

In today’s episode of “things I didn’t know existed” - I spotted this absolutely wild, teardrop shaped upright bass at Carter Vintage Guitars last week. I know nothing about it, but I’ve definitely never seen anything like it before. Surely, someone at Gibson could give us a brief history lesson!

Benny, a talented guitar maker and a dedicated dad, just faced a devastating setback—his truck was set on fire, and his insurance won't cover the $17,000 he still owes. Seeing him struggle with this unexpected loss hits close to home.

Benny is one of my favorite people. I’ve met doing this whole guitar media podcast thing. He makes super rad guitars (Lockhorn Guitars) as well as building for some other companies. He’s one of the kindest and funniest people I’ve met. He’s also not the kind to ask for help like this, and his friend Krissy started this for him.
