The bricks pictured are from the All Veterans Monument that was damaged last month here in State Center.We have pieced together 74 bricks that broke apart, but these bricks pictured here, have missing pieces. We need the information for these bricks, so I can finish filling out the forms to take to Nevada Monument. They will reprint them to be put back on the wall when we erect it.There were 125 printed whole bricks that were alright. The old mortor will be taken off of them, and cleaned up. They will also be put back on the wall.As of now, we are getting estimates for everything that was damaged in the accident. It is a process, but we have faith everything will fall into place as we go. Thank you for being patient.If you have the information I need for the pictured, broken bricks, please contact me. If you know the person/people who may have purchased one of these bricks, please pass this on to them. I know we had quite a few bricks that were purchased by people from out of town/state. Suzanne E. Ellis, 86, of State Center, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at UPH-Marshalltown Hospital.Per the wishes of Susie and her family, cremation rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held June 12 at 2:00 pm at Hillside Cemetery in State Center. The family invites you to join them for refreshments at the Mitchel Family Funeral Home, 104 West Main Street, State Center, immediately following the service. Memorials in her name may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Mitchell Family Funeral Home of Marshalltown has been entrusted with Suzanne’s care. Kendra Sue (Goecke) Graves, 79, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, after a courageous battle with an illness.
She was born on January 4, 1947, in Marshalltown, Iowa, to Calvin and Shirley (Jones) Goecke. A memorial service will be held in Marshalltown, Iowa at Mitchell Family Funeral Home on June 13th at 2 p.m., followed by a reception. Graveside services for the family will be held at a later date.
