The September Town&Gown "Before You Go" page (always the last editorial page of an issue) happened to highlight the support of our founder, Mimi Ungar Barash Coppersmith, for Centre Safe, which marks its 50th year in 2025. This gave "Before You Go" an additional meaning, since Mimi passed away on Sunday. We think she would have liked having the last word. ❤️

It is with deep sadness and profound gratitude that we share the passing of Mimi Barash Coppersmith, the founder of Town&Gown magazine. Mimi was more than a publisher—she was a passionate community leader, fearless trailblazer, and a tireless advocate for meaningful conversation and connection.

In 1966, Mimi launched Town&Gown  with a simple but powerful mission: to bridge the gap between Penn State and the State College community. For decades, her voice shaped the stories that mattered most, championing local voices and celebrating the people who make this region special.

Mimi's legacy lives on in every page we publish and every connection we foster. Her dedication to storytelling and community impact continues to guide us.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who were inspired by her life and work. Thank you, Mimi, for everything. 💛
