UPCOMING ROAD CLOSURE: Starting Monday, June 8, Beaver Avenue in State College will be closed between Atherton St. and Burrowes St. for residential construction. The closure is expected to be brief; PennDOT expects the road to be reopened by Wednesday, June 10. In the meantime, a detour will be in place using Atherton St., Park Avenue and University Dr.

PROJECT LOAN: Centre County’s government is looking to take an up to $10 million loan to help expedite the process of completing the $8 million Public Safety Training Center project. Officials say the loan is set up in a way that would let them borrow funds as needed, which they say will help prevent overspending. The grant money that commissioners say is already committed to the project will be used to reimburse the debt they accrue through the loan.
