Staunton Makerspace

Staunton Makerspace The Makerspace is a non-profit organization focusing on innovation, collaboration, and creativity. We hope to establish a location in Downtown Staunton.

We ensure affordable tools, training, and resources are available to the community for personal growth, career advancement and entrepreneurship. "Makerspaces typically provide access to materials, tools, and technologies to allow for hands-on exploration and participatory learning. They are occasionally referred to as fablabs, hackerspaces or tech shops." -- oedb.org/ilibrarian/a-librarians-guide-

to-makerspaces/

I tend of think of MakerSpaces are modern libraries where you can get hands-on access to technology that is not widely available, such as 3D printers and Computer controlled Routers. It's also a place to get access to people with real expertise in electonics, manufacturing, art, and programming. A delightful collision of skills and expertise that could help us experiment successfully. We are working to establish (and would welcome contact from) local educational groups and organizations.

🚣‍♂️ Making Waves in the Wood Shop! 🌊✨

Member Alex has been hard at work crafting beautiful cedar paddles in our wood shop and they are absolutely stunning! From shaping the curves to smoothing the grain, he’s been putting in the kind of craftsmanship that reminds us why we love this space so much.

Swing by the wood shop and get inspired or start a project of your own. You never know where a piece of cedar (and a little imagination) might take you!

Ever wonder what a typical day looks like inside our creative hive? Here’s a peek at the magic happening under our roof:

Wood Shop: Boards being planed, tongs being shaped, sawdust in the air, and members sharing tips like old friends.

Metal & Electronics: Sparks flying (safely!) as projects take shape, LEDs blinking, circuits humming.

Pottery & Art: Clay spinning into mugs, bowls, and holiday gifts—plus glazes, laughs, and “look what I made!” moments.

3D Printing & Laser Guilds: Printers humming, lasers engraving, and members creating everything from cosplay parts to custom keychains.

Digital Graphics: Photos printed, designs refined, and ideas coming to life on screen and in the real world.

What ties it all together?
👉 Community. Creativity. Curiosity.
Every day is packed with people helping people, learning something new, and making cool things happen. ❤️

Come visit, volunteer, donate or just hang out and see what inspires you!

✨ This Giving Tuesday, Think of the Staunton Makerspace ✨

As a local non-profit that is 100% volunteered powered, we depend on the generosity of our community to help us grow innovation and support makers. Every class taught, every project built, every skill shared, and every smile in our space is made possible because of you.

If you’re able, we hope you’ll include the Staunton Makerspace in your Giving Tuesday plans. Your support, big or small, helps us keep tools accessible, creativity affordable, and the maker community growing.

❤️ We truly couldn’t do this without you.

Thank you for supporting our mission.
