This week on 'Humans Driving Cars,' we have a special kind of person. This type of person rides your bumper, takes every chance they can attempt to pass dangerously, and does not use a turn signal indicator. For many reasons, the first day of the work week is hard for everyone. If you are anything like me, it's likely because you spent the weekend with your family or doing other fun and leisurely things....

It has been a while, but let us skip the small talk and get down to it. All right here we go.

I've been wanting to start this for a while. A column about something we all do: driving.

This first driving post includes an incident that happened to me a few weeks ago after a late work night. Included are some goofy diagrams :)

It has been a while, but let us skip the small talk and get down to it. All right here we go. I work at a music and arts event venue in Berryville, Virginia. If you do not know much about Berryvill…

Ever wonder why your guitar feels hard to play? Beyond a steady practice schedule lurks rusty strings, fret-outs, not enough relief, bad intonation, and action that can be seen from a satellite. There are many string options, heavy and light handed players, but it comes down to a setup that works for your preferences. Below we have five guitar setup tips that should have you back in business....

Thomas Osatchoff, together with family, is building a self-sustaining home near a waterfall. Recent poems have appeared in Abstract: Contemporary Expressions, Cold Mountain Review, CutBank Literary Journal, and elsewhere. Juan Ysaguirre is an artist that makes music under the pseudonym 'Secret Tween.' He uses only a phone to record his music and has several releases available for streaming. During this pandemic, a close family friend of Ysaguirre's, Louis Manuel Jr, passed away. He was an Indigenous tribal leader and former Chairman for the Ak-Chin Indian Community. He passed due to a non-covid related illness, however friends and loved ones could not attend services due to COVID19....

Frank Zappa passed away twenty eight years ago. He released sixty-two records during his lifetime. Six-tee-two. That does not include singles, compilations, box sets, or any of his session work. Another note worth mentioning is he had so much unreleased music that fifty seven full length records of original tunes have been posthumously released by the Zappa Family Trust.

Twenty-eight years later, it’s a Saturday on December 4th, 2021 and Frank’s music is not forgotten. The first Zappa record I ever heard was Joe’s Garage where songs like “Stick It Out,” “Watermelon in Easter Hay,” and the title track stuck out to me. Frank’s playing style, compositions, and prolific discography made a huge impact on myself and those I’ve collaborated with.

Hey Borfski folks, check out this blog piece Shawn Hatfield wrote on Dinosaur Jr. and the Electro-Harmonix 1976 Big M**f. Also includes some chatter about Stomp Under Foot clones, Coast Sonic exclusives, and jazzmasters.

J Mascis, Billy Corgan, Frank Zappa, and many others have a huge impact on why I’m so drawn to Big M**fs. The Mascis sound is undeniably the ’76 Ram’s Head Big M**f. Such a huge, open, and lush tone coming from those records that used them. That said, Mascis's tone is not solely coming from a single stompbox. There are several pretty essential pieces of gear that, when combined, get you the various…...
