If life were fair, we’d never have to realize that sometimes some of the greatest things in life ends..and sometimes they do so with the simple closing of a gate to the show ring. What once seemed so far away is now all of a sudden cut down to a few last shows. A couple of jackpots and one last run at the majors. Every year we can look back to seniors that have concluded their careers and the following year we miss them and their families. For some we will go through this year and still have a few years left, but for others..they are the families with the seniors this year. It’s nearing “the last run”. I can’t help but think..they didn’t realize just how fast it came. What once was their baby playing with toys has now turned into a fine young adult fixing to venture off into a whole nother chapter of life..and it happened so fast. But as we put this all into perspective, it also reminds us that as the last gate latch clanks closed, that the only thing that truly truly mattered wasn’t the buckles and banners. It was the friends, the relationships, and the memories. And it doesn’t even really matter how this last run turns out…it mattered that it happened.
Youngsters..I’ll tell ya again, let mom n pops “lock in” with their cameras. It’s not good for just them, but you as well when you get a little older. Just trust me on this..no cap.
Moms, dads, families..let the next 6-7 months be fun. Let it all soak in and really really enjoy it. To the rest of us..take notice..listen to the seniors and families of seniors..it goes fast. Don’t waste it. For those of you whom will drive your last set of animals this year..this industry loves you..to infinity and beyond! —TGDP
