Is it time for some fresh ideas?

Are you interested in expanding your professional network? Are you an old dog in search of a few new tricks? Are you a young dog who could benefit from the wisdom of more experienced peers?

Do you just need a little umph to get you over the finish line to finish 2026 strong? If so, look no further.

Registration is open for our new workshop, COMMUNITY
JOURNALISM SOLUTIONS SUMMIT.

This is a chance to visit with some of the smartest people in our industry and learn how they execute ideas that could benefit your newsroom and marketing department.

You will leave with a load of new ideas and be excited to go home and implement.

We are gearing up a summit-style, one-and-a-half-day event Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 at the Tarleton State Fort Worth campus.

This TWO-DAY summit will give you a chance to ask questions and contribute to the conversation.

We will cover topics like:

Newsletters
Audio & video ideas
Better writing skills in a changing world
Overcoming threats to free speech
Emerging print options
Non-profit vs. for-profit business models
Promoting your newspaper and reclaiming its swagger
Connecting with your community
Leading and inspiring GEN-Z journalists
AD SALES!
And a lot more

It will be fast paced and information packed. As always, our goal is providing your staff with useful, down-to-earth and entertaining information they can take home and use on Monday.

Thanks to the generosity of the Texas Newspaper Foundation, the workshop is FREE.

Your tuition is FREE. Your hotel is FREE. Your workshop meals are FREE. Your resources are FREE.

We are packing as much information as we can into one-and-a-half days at our FORT WORTH CAMPUS.

We will maximize the space available, but registration is still limited so get onboard today.

All we ask is that you clear your calendar to be in Fort Worth by 8:30 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026.

We will provide a hotel room to anyone who needs it the night before. This way, we can ensure you are bright eyed and ready to go on Friday.

We will provide you with wonderful meals and great information. We’ll go all day Thursday, until noon on Friday and have you back on the road no later than 12:30 p.m.

Please do not ask to come late or leave early.

These workshops are expensive, and they're jam-packed with great information and activities -- it would not be good stewardship of the TNF grant to allow people to take up a place and not attend the whole event.

We know stuff happens, though. That's why we maintain a waiting list, and people from that list are ALWAYS invited to attend when participants cancel in advance.

This summit is limited to 40 attendees, and we try to balance the group geographically and by size of newspaper and other factors, so your interaction with your colleagues becomes one of the most valuable parts of your experience.

In exchange for the free workshop and meals, we'll give you some great resources and send you home with new ideas and (hopefully) some renewed hope.
Go ahead and register today. We’ll follow up within 24 hours of your registration with a confirmation email.

ALL REGISTRATION IS ONLINE. TO REGISTER, CLICK HERE:

An analysis of billions of visits to a metro newspaper's website finds that entertainment and sports stories might generate lots of pageviews, but it's topics like government, transportation, and health that get people to pull out their credit cards.

This change was made over a decade ago. Some folks have been slow to catch on. No need to worry about the correct abbreviations anymore— just spell states.
