GET OUT TO BRILES STADIUM NEXT SATURDAY -- The Cowboy Capital Marching Festival, hosted by the Stephenville HS Yellow Jacket Band, will be held on Saturday, October 3, at Art Briles Stadium in Stephenville. This year’s festival will feature 17 talented marching bands from across the area, making it a wonderful day of music, school spirit, and community support!

The Stephenville Yellow Jacket Band will kick off the event with an exhibition performance at 9:15 a.m., with the remaining bands beginning at 10 a.m. Admission will be $10 for adults and $5 for students. DON'T MISS OUT!!!

TEXANS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT — Tarleton State Soccer began conference play with another win. The Texans (3-2-5, 1-0-0 UAC) won their first conference opener in program history, their United Athletic Conference debut match, 2-1 on the road at Central Arkansas (3-5-2, 0-1 UAC).

Tarleton will head back home for a rivalry match against Abilene Christian on Sunday at 1 p.m. The Texans will host a Purple Out, encouraging all fans to wear their signature color. The Texans will also be giving away free purple vuvuzelas to first-arriving fans. The Dublin Public Library is launching a free after school homework help program, and they want to make sure it meets the needs of students.

Teachers & administrators: What concepts do students need more reinforcement in? Your feedback will help shape future homework help sessions and the support the DPL will offer.

This free community resource is made possible through a grant from the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health.

TEXAN VOLLEYBALL WINS FIRST MATCH IN UAC ERA – Tarleton State Volleyball began the United Athletic Conference era defeating UT Arlington 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22) on Tuesday at Wisdom Gym.

PRAYERS FOR THE BUCK FAMILY

Erath County,

It is with a very heavy heart that I share the passing of Precinct 4 Commissioner Jim Buck.

Jim was more than someone I had the privilege of serving with. He was a friend, a good man, and someone who cared deeply about Erath County and the people he represented. I am thankful for the time I had working alongside him, for the conversations we shared, and for the commitment he brought to serving this county and his precinct. And yes, him always being ready to “pay the bills.”

This is a difficult day for all of us, but especially for those who loved him most. Please keep his wife Deborah, his daughters, Jennifer and Jamie, and the rest of his family in your prayers in the days ahead.

Jim will be greatly missed by all of us who knew him and had the opportunity to serve with him. I am grateful for his friendship, his service, and the positive impact he made in Erath County.
