OBITUARIES PAGE UPDATES -- The Flash Today has added new updates to the obituaries page, including Kris Kinsey Torres, 53, who passed away on Monday, December 1. A viewing/visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 13, at Stephenville Funeral Home. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends during such a difficult time.

Kris was born to Lynn and Linda Kinsey on January 15, 1972, in Stephenville, Texas. She grew up in Morgan Mill with her two older brothers, David and Cody, along with her cousins and many friends.

Kris attended Morgan Mill ISD from kindergarten through 8th grade. She then attended Stephenville ISD through high school and graduated in 1990. She was a friend to everyone who had the chance to meet her. She had a huge heart and was willing to help those in need, no matter the situation.

One Friday afternoon on December 31, 1993, she came sliding into the Your Place parking lot. There stood a man who said, “She is the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen!” That following year, on May 14, 1994, Kris and Tommy Torres were married. They became the best made couple in their eyes. They have two wonderful boys, Skylar Tommy Torres, born on July 21, 1995, and Roman David Torres, born December 14, 1998.

They lived in Morgan Mill for several years then eventually moved to Stephenville. Later in life, Kris received her associate’s degree in social work from Ranger College. She then pursued a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Tarleton State University. Kris worked for several businesses that helped people. She truly was a gift from God, with such a caring heart and loving personality. Her last place of employment was at SMSC. There she worked in the business office helping patients with their insurance. She loved working with all of her coworkers and meeting new people. She was grateful for all of the friendships she made there.

Kris truly loved to help others. Her greatest joys were her family and her fur babies. She would see a dog or cat on the side of the road and we would have to go take it some food and water. If we had the room at our home, we would have brought them all in.

Kris was truly one of a kind. She had a huge heart, a caring soul, she was a friend for life, she had a great sense of humor, and the will to help others. She had a contagious smile and a beautiful sparkle in her eyes.

In lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations in her honor to the Erath County Humane Society.

Kris will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. To learn more or to view local obituaries for free, check out The Flash Today by clicking here: http://theflashtoday.com/category/obits/

IT'S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN!!! Time for the annual 'Mystery of the Christmas Star' program at the Tarleton State Plantiarium!

The free full-dome feature investigates the possible dates for the birth of Christ by examining recorded sightings of significant astronomical events around that time. During the show, planetarium visitors will see how signs in the sky could have been remarkable enough to cause the wise men to travel across the desert to Bethlehem, likely from the southern tip of the Arabian Peninsula.
