🏞️ ROBERT REDFORD PASSED AWAY IN THE PLACE HE LOVED — A TRIBUTE TO UTAH DAYS

Robert Redford, legendary actor, director, Sundance founder, and environmental advocate, died on September 16, 2025, at age 89 — at his home in Sundance, Utah, “[the place he loved]”, surrounded by family and in the serenity of mountains he called home.

From early in his career, Redford felt drawn to Utah. In 1961, he and his then-wife Lola Van Wagenen bought land in Provo Canyon. They welcomed their kids there and made the state his refuge from the Hollywood grind.
He once said Utah was real. “It’s not trying to pretend to be something it’s not,” he told Rocky Mountain Magazine.

In 1969 he bought a ski resort in the Wasatch Mountains, later naming it Sundance Mountain Resort. He used it not only to ski and enjoy nature but to build a place for artists — founding the Sundance Institute & Film Festival, which became a global stage for independent film.
He also owned the Horse Whisperer Ranch in southern Utah, making Utah his family home with wife Sibylle Szaggars.

Redford often criticized Hollywood's superficiality, preferring the authenticity of mountain light, clean air, and unspoiled landscapes. He sold parts of his properties later in life, saying sometimes the land becomes “a lot of weight,” but his connection stayed rooted in the Utah soil.

He leaves us with a legacy built not just on film, but on land conservation, on storytelling, on preserving wild spaces — and on choosing a life true to what he loved.

👑 KING CHARLES III WELCOMES DONALD TRUMP AT WINDSOR — A ROYAL SPECTACLE BEGINS

Today marks the start of President Donald Trump’s second official state visit to the United Kingdom — a rare honor — as he’s received with full royal pageantry by King Charles III at Windsor Castle. The First Lady, Melania Trump, also joined by Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Princess Kate, shared in the ceremonial welcome which included a carriage procession, a guard of honor, and traditional military fanfare.

📸 Highlights of the Visit:

The Trumps were greeted by Prince William and Catherine upon arrival, then formally by the King and Queen in a grand procession through the grounds.

Military bands from the British Army, Royal Marines, and RAF played both national anthems, and mounted regiments and cavalry units featured heavily.

Trump rode side by side with King Charles in a closed carriage, while Melania and Queen Camilla participated in the ceremonial events including a wreath-laying at Queen Elizabeth II’s tomb and lunch with the royals.

📉 WALL STREET HELD BREATH FOR FED RATE CUT — Markets Quiet as Investors Brace

Wall Street started the day steady, with little movement, as all eyes turned to the Federal Reserve, which is expected to announce its first interest rate cut of the year. Analysts are watching closely for the Fed’s economic projections that suggest how many cuts might follow in 2025-2026.

Key takeaways:

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq futures dipped slightly; the Dow rose a bit.

Bond yields dropped — the 2-year Treasury was about 3.51%, and the 10-year yield hit a 2025 low around 4.01%.

Globally, trade tensions still loom. Japan’s exports to the U.S. slumped, hit by the latest tariffs.

Corporate headlines: Workday shares spiked after a major investment; RCI Hospitality dropped after execs faced bribery charges.

Why This Matters:
Markets are balancing hope for looser financial conditions (which usually help stocks) against fears of inflation staying stubborn and the job market cooling too fast. Tariffs add another wrinkle — they can drive up costs and disrupt global trade.

💔 NED FULMER & ARIEL OFFICIALLY SPLIT — A NEW CHAPTER AMID SCANDAL

Ned Fulmer, former Try Guys co-founder, and his wife Ariel have separated after 15 years together — three years on from when a cheating scandal upended their lives in 2022. Despite still co-parenting their two young sons and recently travelling together, the romantic relationship is over.

In his upcoming podcast Rock Bottom, Ned will appear with Ariel in the debut episode to finally have a public conversation about the scandal, their attempts to heal, and what life looks like now.

His approach since the scandal has included therapy, setting new boundaries, and promising more authenticity — stepping away from his once-public “wife-guy” persona, which many say contributed to the backlash.

🚢 FIGHT ON “WONDER OF THE SEAS” FORCES CRUISE SHIP TO RETURN TO PORT

A Royal Caribbean cruise turned chaotic when a verbal dispute between passengers aboard Wonder of the Seas escalated into a physical altercation. The fight broke out around 6:48 p.m. as the ship was heading out on a four-day Bahamas itinerary.

Because two passengers had minor injuries, the captain made the decision to return to PortMiami just after 8:30 p.m. Local emergency responders met the vessel at dock. The injured were transported to a hospital, though both declined to press charges. About a dozen people were removed from the ship after the incident.

The voyage had only begun — Wonder of the Seas was slated to stop at Coco Cay and Nassau before coming back to Miami. Cruise officials say they’re cooperating with authorities while reviewing what happened onboard.

🚨 SHOCKING SCENE IN MILWAUKEE — SIX CHILDREN, INCLUDING AN INFANT, FOUND LOCKED IN STORAGE UNIT

Early Tuesday around 1:36 AM, Milwaukee police responded to an urgent call at the StorSafe storage facility near 27th Street and Silver Spring Drive. When they forced open one of the units with help from fire crews, they discovered six children aged 2 months, 2, 3, 5, 7, and 9 years old, locked inside—alone. Thankfully, none were injured.

A 26-year-old woman and a 33-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident. It’s still under investigation whether these adults are the children’s parents or what led to the children being locked there.

Neighbors are stunned, calling it a “cry for help,” expressing concern, confusion, and outrage. One nearby resident noted seeing a family with children coming and going from the storage site day after day—but this discovery has shaken the community.

✈️ COMEDIAN GUY BRANUM ALLEGES HE WAS ELBOWED ON A DELTA FLIGHT FOR BEING “TOO FAT”

Guy Branum claims he endured an uncomfortable and hurtful experience on a recent Delta flight from New York to Los Angeles: a man sitting beside him allegedly elbowed him in the ribs, supposedly because Branum was “too fat” to comfortably share the middle seat.

He reported the incident to a flight attendant before takeoff, asking for help. The flight was delayed while staff investigated.

Video from the scene shows him in the middle seat, clashing with the passenger in the aisle over the armrest and personal space. The other man reportedly mentioned being in Weight Watchers during the back-and-forth.

Branum praised several Delta crew members as “amazing” and supportive but said a customer service agent (“Delta Red Coat”) made him feel dehumanized, treated “like an object.”

Ultimately, the man who allegedly elbowed him switched seats with another passenger across the aisle, defusing the immediate conflict.

Delta has responded, saying it appreciates how the crew and other customers helped de-escalate the situation, apologized for the delay, and that their Customer Care team is following up directly with Branum to investigate further.

🚨 MASS SHOOTING AT MINNEAPOLIS HOMELESS CAMP — OVER A DOZEN INJURED

Minneapolis was rocked by two shootings in one day — one near a transit station injuring 5 people, and later the same night, a mass shooting at a homeless encampment where 8 were wounded, 4 critically. No arrests have been made yet.

The encampment is on private property owned by Hamoudi Sabri, who opened it to unhoused people in July despite city pushback and thousands in fines.

Mayor Jacob Frey ordered it cleared immediately following the shooting once the crime scene was processed.

Sabri condemned the move, saying displacement without long-term support, trauma care, or emergency shelter beds is not true leadership.

🔥 LIWA INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL — DESERT THRILLS UNDER THE ABU DHABI SUN 🔥

Every winter, the remote dunes of Liwa in Abu Dhabi come alive with roaring engines, heart-pounding motorsports, vibrant traditions, and unforgettable desert landscapes. The Liwa International Festival (also known as the Liwa Moreeb Dune Festival) isn’t just an event — it’s a celebration of culture, adventure, and sheer thrill.

🚗 What Makes Liwa Festival So Wild

Set against the sand seas of the Al Dhafra region, the festival spans nearly a month, offering a mix of motorsport competitions, cultural showcases, traditional sports, and entertainment.

A centerpiece event is the Tal Moreeb Hill-Climbing Championship, where cars and bikes attempt to scale steep dunes—some over 300 meters high.

Other crowd favorites: dune bashing, drag bike races, cultural shows (camel races, performances), live music, food, art … all under the sweeping skies and golden sands.

📅 Festival at a Glance

For 2025, the dates stretch from late December through early January, aligning with cooler desert weather and whole families coming out to experience the dunes.
liwainternationalfestival.ae

Latest stats: in the 2024 edition, the festival drew over 640,000 visitors—locals and tourists alike—to the dunes.

🌵 Why It’s More Than Just a Race

The event is deeply connected with Emirati heritage and traditions—the desert as both backdrop and identity. It’s not just adrenaline; there’s pride, art, stories, and celebration.

It shines a light on desert sport safety, draws attention to environmental challenges, and fuels tourism in remote places, boosting local economies.

🐋 SPOTTED OFF SAN DIEGO: Rare S***m Whales Return to Local Waters

It’s not every day you get to witness one of the ocean’s most elusive giants up close—again. Over the past weekend, whale-watchers off the San Diego coast were thrilled to spot two rare s***m whales, just 10-15 miles out at sea—following their first appearance there only a week earlier.

Here’s what makes this sighting so special:

These are deep-water creatures, more often found far out in the Pacific, so sightings near the coast are very uncommon.

The whales were seen surfacing and blowing, giving onlookers a rare chance to observe their massive heads and iconic blowhole plumes. Whale-watching boats captured the moment during a sunset outing, making it unforgettable.

Because these are repeat appearances—seeing them one week, then again the next—biologists are interested in what’s drawing them closer to shore. Could changing food patterns, water temperatures, or other environmental factors be at play?

If you live nearby, keep your eyes on the horizon. These giants may not stay long, but when they’re around, every blow is a reminder of how much of the natural world still surprises us.

🌞 ART, SHADE & EDUCATION: U.S. CITIES FIGHT BACK AGAINST DEADLY HEAT

Cities across the U.S. are turning up the creativity to protect people from extreme heat — combining public art, shaded structures, and community education in places that need it most.

In Phoenix, artists are building colorful shade installations with panels painted in folk designs, UV-resistant fabric, even solar-powered misting systems. Each shade installation is unveiled with free supplies like sunscreen and cooling towels, along with safety tips for staying cool.

Research supports the change: exposure to intense sun raises skin and surface temperatures dramatically, but shaded areas drop those temperatures significantly—and improve comfort, safety, and wellbeing.

In Los Angeles, projects like “Roots of Cool” are highlighting inequalities: some neighborhoods get almost no shade, leaving people more exposed to heat risk. Interactive art exhibits, artworks over bus stops, and hanging flowers that open in hot weather are all being used to raise awareness and push for more equitable access to relief.

These efforts are more than beautification. They’re lifesaving infrastructure—especially in heat-vulnerable communities.
