EXCLUSIVE FRONT COVER AND FULL PLOT REVEAL!!!!!

Fogworlders, we are THRILLED to finally debut the cover of Fogworld vol. 2: City Limits for you today. Meet Neso, a 1,500-foot spinosaurus-inspired colossus with two fins instead of one, seen here in Manhattan. Neso’s twin fins enable the suspension of a second/upper deck of the city between them; it will play a major role in the FogWorld War when City Limits is released next month. Keep an eye out next week for the official full wraparound reveal, including your first look at the cannibal-inhabited titan Sao. For now? Like, comment and share. Keep reading for the official synopsis. Artwork by Steven Juliano.

***

First, 13 creatures emerged from the ocean, each over 1/4 mile tall. Then came a lethal fog that covered the Earth’s surface. A small remnant of mankind built cities on the backs of these beasts and migrated up over the fog forever.

104 years later, war has come to the titans. Iris 13 is now a military strategist pursuing a spy who has a grudge to bear. Yet this war isn’t hers alone. It also involves a young soldier, a bare-knuckle boxer, a medical test subject and a bookie who has lost everything. Warfare, espionage, murder, corruption and betrayal may push them over the CITY LIMITS.

Sending a book off for final production approval is an emotional thing. The author, editor and artists have worked on this...this THING for two to five years and now it's off to the printers. No backsies, no do-overs. Just a few hundred pages of black and white. Imagine putting your all into a job you love for several years and never receiving a word of feedback from your bosses. Then it comes time for feedback and you either get to keep doing the job you love or it turns out you've done it terribly and you have to go back to a much crappier job. And nobody will pull punches if you did a sh*t job. And you look at all the hours you spent away from your wife and kids, all the family outings you missed, all the doubt you had along the way, and it could either all be worth it or it could haunt you the rest of your life. People could jaw-drop at its marvels or maybe not a single person will give a damn. For better or worse, it's all done. It's kind of a terrifying and joyous and panicky and wonderful and awful feeling.

So that's where I'm at tonight. How's your Friday?

-jonny.

A note from jonny:

I've spent nearly every waking moment of my free time this month carefully drumming up over 11,000 words for 'City Limits: Fogworld vol. 2.' This section (four chapters!) has been in my head since I had the idea for Fogworld in 2014. It took 150,000 words and four years to get to it. What were you doing back then? Yeah, I agree; it's crazy to think about. And now it's done and I just uploaded it to my Patreon. If you read Wandering City Blues and want to catch up on the new book, it's all yours for $3 a month (link below). There's a chance I'll finish the manuscript in December, but remember this day - October 13, 2018, I sealed the deal on an idea I've had in my sights and wanted to share with you for over 1,400 days.

I love you all. Thanks for supporting Fogworld.

A spoiler-free note from jonny:

Hey friends! This month is a really nerve-wracking one for me as an author. Between now and Halloween, I’m writing something in particular for my next book. My next book is City Limits, a direct sequel to Wandering City Blues and the 2nd in my ongoing sci-fi/spec fiction novel series Fogworld.

So what? Well, this thing I’m writing...I came up with the setting for Fogworld in, probably, 2014. Immediately, I had TWO ideas for stories in Fogworld. One idea was “Timeshare,” the standalone story that constitutes the first two chapters of ‘Wandering City Blues.’ The other idea was this thing I’m working on this month. If you read Wandering City Blues, this idea involves a certain set of characters introduced near the end of the chapter “September,” on Miami Beach. They’ve become my most-asked question in the last two years but I couldn’t fit their story anywhere into WCB and I’ve spent the better part of City Limits working my way to it.

I’ve currently written about 160,000 words in the Fogworld universe. Wandering City Blues constitutes just under half of it, to give you a sense of scale. I’ve spent 160,000 words and four years leading up to the event I’m working on this month. It’s likely the biggest thing that will happen in the series, it will decide the outcome of the Final World War waged throughout the book (90,000 words and counting!) and it will change the course of history for these characters who’ve been living with me for four years - that’s since Robin Williams passed away.

In that time, you have welcomed Fogworld and the stories of Leon Adler, Iris 13, Jeremai 1 and the roaming kaiju cities into your literary world. You took a chance on a weird new IP despite a market saturation of dystopian post-apocalypse and you trusted me with your hard-earned money to support whatever the Hell this bizarre thing is I’m doing with my life. And it means more to me than you could imagine. All I want is to tell you a good story. One that will stick with you. One that will entertain you and maybe make you think.

And what’s maybe my best story to date is being drawn up between now and Halloween. Thank you, my friends, for your continued support and engagement here. If this is half as entertaining to you as it is stressful/anxious for me, it will be BIG. Stay tuned.
