๐ Stop mowing once lawn growth has completely stopped.
Depending on soil temperatures, this usually happens in early to mid-November. Our final mowing is typically the second week of November, although in warmer years, weโve mowed right up until Thanksgiving ๐ฆ
โ
Keep mowing until growth stops โ typically when daytime highs stay below 50โ55ยฐF.
โ
Maintain a mowing height of 3โ3.5 inches to protect roots through winter and help prevent disease.
โ
Avoid cutting too short at the end of the season โ that extra blade length insulates the soil and supports stronger regrowth in spring.
โ
Once mowing season wraps up, itโs time to focus on leaf removal and cleanup to keep your lawn healthy.
๐ฑPro Tip:
Fall is the perfect time to apply a winter fertilizer to strengthen roots and help your lawn green up faster next spring.
