🍂 Stop mowing once lawn growth has completely stopped.
Depending on soil temperatures, this usually happens in early to mid-November. Our final mowing is typically the second week of November, although in warmer years, we’ve mowed right up until Thanksgiving 🦃
✅ Keep mowing until growth stops — typically when daytime highs stay below 50–55°F.
✅ Maintain a mowing height of 3–3.5 inches to protect roots through winter and help prevent disease.
✅ Avoid cutting too short at the end of the season — that extra blade length insulates the soil and supports stronger regrowth in spring.
✅ Once mowing season wraps up, it’s time to focus on leaf removal and cleanup to keep your lawn healthy.

Fall is the perfect time to apply a winter fertilizer to strengthen roots and help your lawn green up faster next spring.
