Venison backstrap with purple potatoes and broccoli

I was influenced by to buy purple potatoes awhile back and I finally did! 😉🫶🏻
sure knows how to grow them 🥔💟

Today's gloomy rainy day was brightened by being with dear friends and family! A double mother daughter date at for lunch made my day! 🤍🤍🤍🤍

Driftless Cafe was the highlight of our day trip to Viroqua for our anniversary (May 2025)

🥗 Phyllo borek & salad
🐃 Organic prairie beef tenderloin
🦆 Pan seared duck breast
🍰 Crème brûlée & carrot cake

When we arrived for our reservation the staff had an anniversary card waiting for us at our table. Which I think is just beyond awesome, we immediately felt welcome.
I love that each dish was carefully crafted with local ingredients. Any restaurant that supports local farmers will always be high on my list! The highlight was the beef tenderloin, perfectly cooked and sitting on top of the fluffiest potatoes 🤌 Truly everything was delicious!

While I don't remember every detail from six months ago I do know we enjoyed our experience at Driftless Cafe and will make our way back one day! Also note for our 10th wedding anniversary we chose a Wisconsin town and had a little day trip, thats it!! Not everything has to be elaborate. Simplicity creates beautiful memories! Be thankful for the moments!

**I bet your surprised it took 6 months for me to post....well life happens and I had a busy summer so I did my best to be present in the moments and not post immediately. After getting a new phone recently I was going through my photos realizing I have a bunch of concerts, events and a trip to Europe I never shared. So be prepared for random content from the summer as we head into winter 🤭🤷🏼‍♀️

Even though some things we choose to be simple and others a splurge it's really up to the individual and I never created this Instagram account to brag or boast. Simply to share moments of my life mostly food and some travel. The majority of my content is never in real time.

We walked around downtown Viroqua and got some mushrooms at the farmers market. We got an early lunch at Cheese Corner before heading out of town to fish.

The sandwiches we got were the rancher & Philly cheesesteak, both excellent ☺️
