Congrats on OSU NPK’s “major award!”
Seriously, we are proud of our very own Dr. Brian Arnall for the recognition of his work for ag producers across Oklahoma and the entire country.

Congratulations to Dr. Brian Arnall, OSU Extension precision nutrient management specialist, on receiving the 2026 Southern Region Excellence in Extension Award from USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, Cooperative Extension and the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities!

For nearly two decades, Arnall has helped farmers and ranchers improve profitability, use nutrients more efficiently and protect natural resources through precision agriculture. This recognition celebrates his commitment to practical, science-based solutions that support Oklahoma agriculture.

Oklahoma wheat planting DOUBLED last week. 🌾
🎧 👉 apple.co/4cEXNWW
But here’s the catch: we’re still well behind normal.

âś… 14% of Oklahoma wheat is planted
📊 Normally: about 35%
🌱 Only 3% has emerged
đź’§ More than half of topsoil is still short or very short on moisture
đźšś Sorghum harvest is already past halfway

The drills are moving, but rain, soil moisture and w**d control could all shape how this wheat crop gets started.

And if you’re planting wheat right now, it’s worth asking: Does your w**d-control plan actually fit your planting date and field conditions?

Hear the full update on the Red Dirt Agronomy Crop Cast and check out Episode 509, “The New Rules of Wheat W**d Control.”

Where do you go when you need an answer?
YouTube? Google? AI? Someone you trust?

In Episode 518, we talk with Daniel Adamson, Ph.D., about how good information reaches people in a world where nearly every answer starts with a phone.

The big takeaway: useful knowledge only matters if people can find it—and trust it.

We talk short videos, simple communication, research-based answers, and why something that feels routine to one person may be exactly what someone else needs to see.
